I came in with my dog after moving to the area and found that this place was very warm and welcoming. The vet was very informative and happy to answer any questions that I had. Overall my experience here was very pleasant

I first visited here about a month ago to buy food. The place was so busy yet the atmosphere was relaxed and happy. I took my cat there 2 weeks later for a check up and the staff was so friendly and helpful. My cat, Mr Pusskins, even seemed to like the vet! Mr Pusskins will definitely be going here for all his kitty care. Great place.

We got a new puppy in Feb 2011, this review is based on regular visits we had up to June 2011 when our puppy had his surgery to be de-sexed. Overall they always seem to miss the details and seem rather careless with their service and information provided to their customers. The level of customer service provided at St George Animal Hospital (SGAH) is very minimal. The vet nurses/receptionist fails to provide required information, provides incorrect information, have poor attitude and tries to quickly turn you away. They Vet does not proactively provide you with guidance and information EXAMPLES**************************************************************************************************************** ****** # Although we had specifically informed that we were first time owners of a puppy SGAH did not pro-actively provide information regarding process of vaccines, flea/worm treatment, health guide, feeding information. We had to ask specific questions and only a minimal answer was provided. - The vet did not provide a vaccination record card / vaccination certificate, we had to specifically request for one. This is odd given that owners must have vaccination certificates for their puppies and are commonly mandatory to have to participate in puppy schools. ******************************************************************************************************************************# St George Animal Hospital failed to advise or inform us that our puppy had to fast (no food) from the night before for his surgery. We were only told after we arrived at SGAH on the morning of the surgery, and ended having to take him back home and bring him back the next day. Because they "forgot" to tell us, ended up having to take two half days of work and had to re-arrange annual leave which previously schedule so that we could care of our puppy post op. I had phoned twice prior to the surgery - once to book it in, and phone the day before to confirm. NOBODY advised/instructed or informed of the pre-surgery requirement to fast. ******************************************************************************************************************************# I asked the vet nurse/reception to request the vet give my puppy a one month heart worm tablet before/after the de-sexing surgery as we were not due to start my puppy on Advocate until the next month. She then advise me they dont have those types of tablets. This is incorrect information, as for the past 3 months the vet had been providing and billing me for monthly heart worm tablets, and I advised her so. She checks her system and says they have no record of it. Her attitude was to quickly brush me off.

We have been going to St George animal hospital since 2002 and we thought they were exceptional, very caring and committed towards the health of our loved friends. In 2005 we moved to Europe with our two cats and the dog and come back to Australia in 2009. later that year our older cat (8 years old) starting to be unwell, always regurgitating his food and losing weight so we decided to go and get an opinion on what was wrong with him so blood test and urine test were done and also x rays for a total of 700 dollars and the results were inconclusive. we asked if there was a chance that he had stomach cancer, but he said if that was the case it would be on the test results so the senior vet gave us large spectrum antibiotics and ant inflammatory saying that probably he had a kidney problem. after one month our beloved cat had an internal bleeding and the conclusion of the same vet was that he had advanced stomach cancer and the was nothing we could have done, so we said good bye to our beautiful cat. Last week my dog cut himself on the screen door of our backyard, the wound was quiet deep and we took him in, it was 6:30pm, the very unfriendly receptionist said the the doc was on the phone, at 7:15pm the vet came out and said because was after 7pm it would be an after hour fee of 190 dollars + the consultation + whatever needed to be done!! we're not very rich at the moment so we just asked if she thought he needed stitches, and if yes, was OK to wait till the day after. her answer was if you don't pay the after hour fee and the consultation she wasn't going to tell us anything!! WOW!! it seems to me that all they care those days is about money and once they take them they don't even come up with an answer or solution. my understanding to become a Vet is for the love of the animals. i think they forgot!! They were very good once, but good things sometimes they turn bad. We found another vet close to our house that by chance was the same vet that use to look after our animals between 2002 to 2005 at St. George animal Hospital. he probably left the practice when things started to change.
