Whatever the outcome of my dear and very unwell dog, the professionalism, care and advanced and immediate medical care given to her gave me great comfort and assurance that she is in the best possible place while so unwell. There are never certainties in any health crisis, but I can sleep at night knowing she is in great hands, she is well monitored for any change in her health. It is very stressful to have any family member ill and emotions can run high, but remember the staff at ARH are there with one purpose, and that is for the very best outcome for your pet. They have my support
The people whor run this place seem to be intrested in only ONE thing - getting as much MONEY out of the customer as they possibly can. They callously ransom your feelings for you sick pet to extract as much as they can by recommending useless, unnecessary and expensive procedures. IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET DONT TAKE IT HERE
Make sure that you ask for the full price breakdown upfront otherwise you could end up paying $200-$300 extra for other related tests that were never mentioned to you prior to the procedure. They also overcharge for medication which will cost you 2-3 times more than what you can get from a normal vet or pharmacy. I'm not talking about 10-20 dollars but over a hundred dollars and when confronted they just shrugged it off claiming that's their markup price. Also if your pet ever needs to have a day procedure, expect them to come out smelling like they've rolled in manure when you pick them up despite being freshly washed going in. If you are cashed up and have a very sick pet then by all means, they will treat you wonderfully as long as they can make money off you. Once nothing more can be done, don't expect the same friendliness or even common courtesy of things like an email response.
My 14-year-old mini foxy developed a cough. After 3-4 day I took him to my vet and he couldn't find anything wrong with him. He prescribed some medication and gave him a steroid shot. He told me if he doesn’t improve after a couple of days bring him back. After the couple of days he didn’t improve and he also lost his appetite he began collapsing after each cough. Rather than take him back to “Simon” my vet I took him to Animal Tracks hospital in Homebush they gave him an examination they took several X-rays of his chest where they discovered fluid pooling at the base of his lungs they gave me a USB stick with the X-Rays to the Flemington Hospital. Unfortunately they didn’t have Ultra sound equipment. It cost me about $160 for their services including the X-Rays and referred me to the Animal Referral hospital Parramatta road Flemington. As one could imagine I was overcome with emotion and grief!. When I arrived there a young female vet attended Benji and I. She told me they would do an ultrasound. I also gave her the USB stick with the X-Rays, which had been taken about an hour prior. After a while she returned and informed me of the fluid on his lung, of which I was already aware of, She also informed me of what was causing the fluid, he had a tumor on his lung and they performed a Biopsy and took more X-Rays. At that moment I new they were money grabbing, but I was too emotionally upset to discuss the matter. She began the spiel about them having an excellent oncologist at the hospital where they can proceed with chemotherapy etc. I told her I wouldn’t even put myself through that. She told me that the fees were $1500 would I like to pay now? I told her I would pay a $500 deposit and the rest when the treatment is finalized. The spiel she was giving me was unbelievable! Of course during all this time I was an emotional wreck! And couldn’t think logically. I went home very upset. The next morning I received a call from my Everton road Vet, “Simon” He told me that he has just received information that Benji is critically ill. I asked his advise and I suggested would it be better for Benji to be euthanized? He said yes. I returned to the Animal Referral Hospital at Flemington. The same young female vet attended to me again and suggested that they can cater for a Private cremation for Benji (MONEY SUCKING AGAIN!) I told her my son has already prepared a burial place in my garden. When I went to pay the balance of my account it had increased to over $2000. I DON’T KNOW HOW THEY HAVE THE GALL! ITS. ABSOLULTY UNBELIEVABLE THAT THEY WOULD TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SOMEONE WHO IS OVER COME WITH GRIEF! It’s a case of buyer beware !
My uni student daughter saw an eye doctor for her pet dog after being referred to this place by a local vet who charged $150 for that referral service. This mob took 5 or so minutes to advise that it would be cheaper for the local vet to remove the infected eye and charged $225 consultation fee. Not sure which one of them is the more money hungry rip off merchant.
