Needed to find a vet for our skinny pig and Animal Ark was recommended. We received excellent service throughout his life. The vet always explained everything in layman's terms so we could understand. Took our 15 year old cat in today to get shaved and they called to ask if they could do urine samples and blood work, as she is getting quite thin. As well, when the skinny pig passed, they were extremely compassionate in our time of sorrow, helping us with an urn selection etc. They even washed our blankets we brought him in in.

Our dog has been going to this Vet his whole life, as our cat before him (died at 16 years old due to an untreatable virus). Our dog is 12 years old now, and still going strong. Each time we have taken our dog to this vet we have been happy with the results and the staff. We have expected some large bills over the years. Seven teeth removed, and almost lost him due to a sitter that thought feeding him raw food was more natural. We payed about half of what others want for dental, and when he was in dire need of attention after the negligent sitter the vet clinic took him overnight at no cost to watch and make sure he made it through the night. They are not greedy at this clinic, and they care for your pet as you would.

DO NOT GO HERE!!!! Expensive and poor approach to pet care. Recently my dog had a hematoma. She previously one in her other ear and so we knew what to expect.... or so we thought until we took her to Dr. Mackowiak. He cut her hear such that her condition returned weeks after, so we asked he "fixed it" again. Again, he didn't put stiches in so it became infected and swollen and the hematoma returned for the second time again. This time we took her to her regular vet out of town. My dog had to be sedated 3 times in one month as a result. Her ear will be permanently scarred because of his shabby work, and on top of this he charged twice as much as the vet we took it to fix the whole fricken mess. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! Expensive and poor approach to pet care.

our dog had an autoimmune disease and our vet on the west end was giving us steroids to keep him going ($$$$) and on thanksgiving weekend (Friday) i realized how much pain Bandit was in so i called this clinic at 430 and begged them to take him in before the weekend. Dr. Mackowiak was extremely compassionate and she allowed me time to say my good byes and to hold him in his final hour. i dealt with the billing on the next Tues and nothing was said about not paying on the Friday. they have my business as long as i live in Edmonton. we have been going here for 13 years. I prefer the female vet but that's because she was the one who dealt with bandit.

I was there twice with my Jack Russell Terrier, first time when I was pregnant, second time after I had my baby. The receptionist was friendly both times, and very helpful, but the vet himself was extremely rude and arrogant. When I was first there, he had me hold my dog while he trimmed her nails and while he was "trimming" her nails, which was more like he was trying to clip the air in front of her, she kicked me in the stomach and sent me to the hospital later that day. Regardless of this incident, I did take her back after my son was born. I was quoted the amount for her rabies shot on the phone, and was told that there wasn't an examination fee. When I arrived, the vet started an examination, and when I confronted him, saying that she had an exam less than 6 months prior and I was only there to update her rabies shot, he got vocal with me, called me stupid, and told me that it would cost upwards of $200, not the $120 I was originally quoted. I left, and since then I have been dealing with another veterinary clinic with better pricing and customer service, and a vet that doesn't treat me like I'm stupid. I would not recommend Animal Ark to anyone simply because his "bedside manner" was atrocious, even though the other staff was extremely friendly.
