When our cat, Soot, scratched his eye and the resulting internal infection caused his eye to rupture, despite the treatment and antibiotics prescribed by our usual vet, Animal Medical Center was the only vet that was willing to try and save his eye. They rushed us in as soon as we contacted them and our little guy was in surgery within the hour. Dr. Claffey and his team did everything they could to help our precious Soot and he actually managed to sew his eye back together, despite the devastating rupture. Dr. Claffey was honest with us after the surgery and told us that he could not guarantee that everything he had done would save Soots' eye and that he may still have no other recourse but to remove it. He instructed us on how to apply and administer the antiobiotics, scheduled follow-up visits at no charge to check on Soot's progress and provided us with a list of signs to look for that would indicate any complications so we could bring Soot in right away should anythign go wrong. After a few days we were able to take him home and after approximately six months of antibiotic treatments and several check ups with Dr. Claffey along the way, it was finally time to have the stitches removed from the eyelids Dr. Claffey had sewn together to protect Soots' eye as it healed. Once the stitches were out, we were amazed to see that Soot's eye had healed beautifully with minimal scarring. We were even more amazed to find out that Soot had also retained almost all of his vision in this eye and all thanks to the surgical skills and care of Dr. Claffey and his staff. Animal Medical Center is now our regular vet and we take both our little Soot and our dog, Mojo, to him regularly for their check ups and shots. Mojo loves seeing Dr. Claffey as he gets lots of pets, hugs and cookies. He has so much fun being adorable and scamming extra cookies from Dr. Claffey that he has never once realized that he is getting his shots while he is getting his hugs. Phenomenal vets, fantastic and caring staff and their prices are great too! We absolutely love Dr. Claffey and could not possibly thank him or his staff enough for saving our Soot!
We have been with the Animal Medical Centre for the past 20 years. Dr. Tomkowicz, Karin and Andre have been absolutely wonderful! We have also used the boarding facilities, and found them and the staff to be caring and concerned........ Thanks to Karin and Andre at the centre for being so kind and caring. We have moved to the UK, Gazoo had a 15 hour caged trip by the time we were able to get him in London, but because he was in really good health, thanks to all the above, he survived ok. Hope we can find another caring clinic to take Gazoo to! Thanks again, Dr. Tomkowicz, Karin and Andre and all those that care for animals. Love Gazoo Godwin
We've been customers for over 14 years now - that should say it all! We took our previous dog Dexter there his whole life, and loved their service and expertise. We had our cat Bijou declawed the humane way with a laser (we couldn't find another vet that could do some of the specialized services they offered). And now we've taken Roxy (our 2 year old border collie/shepherd cross) there and just love them!
3 years ago, my family was given some terrible news our 4 year old Seal Point Siamese Sam was sick and diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) and only had 3 months to live. This virus has the ability to invade and grow in white blood cells. The immune system's response causes an intense inflammatory reaction in the containing tissues. This disease is generally fatal. Our pets are our family and we needed a second opinion. So after a friends referral we rushed Sam to Dr. Bishay at the Animal Medical Center in Edmonton. Although we had never been their before, they seen how heart broken we all were. The staff was so kind and caring. When we met Dr. Bishay we had hoped he wouldn't be like all the other doctors, and with luck he wasn't! You could see his passion and love for animals, especially for Sam. Although Dr. Bishay confirmed Sam's diagnosis, he told us that this disease has a very low survival rate but if you believe in miracles anything can happen, just give him a stress free life and lots of love. And with those words some how it felt so much better. With weekly stomach draining's and love Sam some how became the 1 in 20 cats to overcome such a disease. It has now been over 3 years, and we are so thankful of the Animal Medical Center for giving us hope and not giving up on Sam. Dr. Bishay continued his weekly phone calls to our house to check on Sam for a few months. Finally, we got one last call. Dr. Bishay said this will be my last check up call on Sam, he is a miracle kitty and with your family's love and dedication he was able to cure himself. We are writing this review not only because this clinic saved our Cat's life. But they show such compassion for what they do.They knowledge you about your pet and when times are sad they some how make you feel better. Edmonton Animal Medical Center - Thank you for everything - Sam & The Nakonechny Family
