I had no issues and I had expected the amount to be bit higher simply to cover the cost to run the facility off hours. Can't stand how some people can bitch about the cost when it comes to the health and well being of animals, and blame everyone around them for their irresponsibility of not affording the costs. Common sense Vets enter their professions because they love and care about animals!

My cat ended up spending the night at the EVEC because she was diagnosed with hepatic lipidosis and had a feeding tube put in, and her regular vet was not open enough for her to get the treatment she needed after surgery. From the moment that we first brought her to the EVEC we have loved them. They are so caring and comforting to pets. I have made many phone calls to get information and we have made 3 visits including our first one all for this same issue and the vets and techs have been amazing. We have seen specifically Dr. Jackson and Dr. Sauve and both are awesome. Dr. Sauve especially took care of my cat most recently and he is so comforting and compassionate. I wish that all veterinarians could be as amazing as the EVEC staff!!!

I am not writing this as a review of the clinic, but rather for informational purposes for comparison of costs between emergency vet clinics. Last night we needed to put our 5 lb cat down. We took her to the Guardian Emergency Clinic on 99 St. The staff was fantastic. However, they charged: - $158 for euthanasia and; - $120 for cremation (communal) for a total of $278, with tax $291.90. Since we still have 3 cats and 2 dogs, I checked with the Edmonton Emergency Clinic Downtown regarding their costs for future reference. They would have charge: - $230 to euthanasia a 5 lb cat (goes by weight) and; - $134 for communal cremation for a total of $364, with tax $382.20. That is $90 more than the other emergency clinic, something to be aware of. Our regular vet charges would have been - $70 for euthanasia and; - $70 for cremation (communal) for a total of $140, with tax $147.00. I realize these clinics are 24/7 and I expect to pay more. However, I would expect to pay close to the regular price plus a surcharge per ½ hour of approximately $50 rather than 3 times as much of the regular cost. Similar to when you call a service person on off hours. I feel that they are taking advantage of people who have no choice.

An immensely valuable service, staffed with a remarkable collection of caring, dedicated professionals, there to help when you most need it and no-one else is available. Dr. Brent Jackson and his staff saved the life of our beloved dog Kali and every single person we've encountered at EVEC has been caring, understanding and thoughtful. I could not more highly recommend any organization.

These people are great. Yes, this is an emergency clinic, they triage the animals in and they will cost more than your regular vet but they are there 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. We were here close to a month ago and my dog ended up needing emergency GI surgery. They were very honest with us regarding our options, possible outcomes and cost. After the surgery, we were told we could come and go and stay as long as we wanted, they have a "Comfort Room", where we were allowed to spend as much time as we needed. My dog is alive because they were there when we needed them and that's what's important.
