We had a great first visit at this clinic! My two cats and myself felt welcome and truly cared for. They even sent us a card in the mail to welcome us to their office! Yes it is slightly more expensive than other veterinary clinics but I feel comfortable with this level of service and am happy to pay for it.
I first came to Glenora Cat Clinic when we got our kittens because it was close by and we didn't have a regular vet in the city, but I have been completely satisfied with the services we have received. At the first check up the kittens were both anxious about being out of the house, but the vet was very good with them and took her time making sure they were comfortable. I have never felt that we were overcharged as they are always available for questions via email which saves us from making unnecessary appointments over small things. Likewise, when we were discussing vaccinations and some other optional costs, she went through them all with us one at a time and let us know which would be necessary (as ours are indoor cats they don't need all of them) and which weren't. Same thing with getting them spayed - they gave us an invoice ahead of time listing all the costs, including optional ones, and discussed why or why not we would need each test, etc. We came here because it was close, but if we moved I would definitely make the drive.
staff will ban you from clinic for writing bad reviews on there horrible clinic.
We are VERY unimpressed with this Dr. Gayle McDonald's attitude. Her assessment of social interaction seems to limit her to otherwise, involuntary making assumptions about clients who want their cat assessed properly. We had our cat spayed here some years ago, and even then, "Dr" McDonald gave my mother a very bad attitude. My father and I brought our cat just recently to have a lump assessed, and due to our cat's outwardly nature, we were trying to alleviate some of the stress of handling our cat by sharing a jest. We agreed to have her sedated instead. It didn't get that far, because they proposed we leave our cat there for a few hours so they can sedate her, and then do the work suggested. Well, at this point, we did not want to just abandon our cat to their "care." Dr McDonald said our laughing at our cat was "making her feel we were laughing at [her and her staff.]" We actually have some video feed of Dr McDonald's voice saying this. On our way out, I explained to her and her staff that we never would have laughed at her expense. We were trying to alleviate some of the intense atmosphere, and we just didn't want to leave our cat there without our supervision and attention either. No offense, but this is just overall, a very unprofessional way to handle your own paying clients. With that all being said, we found a closer vet hospital that charged $200 less, and took us in the same day. We had everything we wanted done, with our supervision, and with no awkwardness. Who would've thunk it?? As some of your other reviewers has stated, Dr McDonald, we hope you learn how to cope with other people and their cats with some dignity and respect.
I have been a client with Glenora for about a year now, ever since my old vet moved over to the south side ( Beck Veterinary). Recently I went in to get my cat's nose checked since he had a rash surrounding it. When I brought him in, the Vet had NO CLUE what was wrong with him, and kept telling me that my old Vet had bad handwriting so it was "impossible" to know what's wrong. I explained what was given to him before etc. The Vet gave me two options: Biopsy his nose or Operate.. even though they don't know what's wrong with him and all my old vet did was give him some antibiotics and it went away within a week! The vet's claim was that it was "now reoccurring so clearly the antibiotics didn't work". I decided to wait it out and ended up buying Polysporin for my cat's nose, which is healing nicely! After all that, they kept pushing wet catfood on to me since my cat has Urinary Tract Disease and is on the dry, since that's all he eats. I kept telling them that he refuses to eat wet, yet they sent me home with 4 cans AND CHARGED ME FOR THEM after not even telling me that they were going to be sending me home with them. I'm not impressed with their actions. Will be looking into other Veterinary clinics in my area.
