I took Chip, our 15.5 yr old poodleXmaltese in because his belly was so swollen....I found out 1 month ago that he had a heart condition so we assumed he was full of water. Dr Suzanne Mislaszek did a Xray and broke the terrible news that he was not full of water but he was full of cancer....Dr M and her assistant were fantastic during and afterward these procedures...(I had my wonderful companion put to sleep) I couldn't have asked for a more professional and kind visit...Thankyou, Cathy Barton

I cannot say enough about how wonderful this facility is. We took our dog to our regular vet and they found a large mass in his abdomen but no vet on staff could identify it which was extremely abnormal. We went to the Ellerslie Veterinarian Clinic as well and she referred us to the VetEmerg to see Dr. Latif. She said that he was very experienced with ultrasounds. He was able to locate the organs in the ultrasound which the other vets weren't able to do. The whole staff was helpful, efficient and compassionate. I couldn't believe that we were at an Emergency vet office that charged the same prices after hours. Our dog, Digby, had an abnormal mass that was pushing on all of his organs. Dr. Latif was honest. He did not want to give us false hope but thought that Digby had a good chance at living. He operated that night; however, he cautioned us that all major emergencies would have to take priority. Dr. Latif called us himself at 9:00p.m. He said he'd never seen anything like it and it was a huge mass of fat. It had been a tricky surgery as he had to ensure that he did not damage the organs as he removed it. Thank goodness we had such an amazing surgeon. A huge thank you to Ellerslie Veterinarian for referring us to the best! They saved our dogs life and he is a different dog now. All through the process, the staff reassured us that we could call at any time and they meant it. Every time we called they were kind and understanding. It should also be noted that as we waited for Digby, several emergencies came in. Each one was handled based on how emergent the situation was. The staff was kind, efficient and once again, compassionate. Thank you so very much!!! Amanda Moser, Audrey Kindley and all of our family

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE A BIRD!!! WORST emergency vet experience, EVER! First and foremost: Emergency vets are expensive. That is a given. I know that. This is not my first time taking my parrot to an emergency vet. This was my first time ever going to this one (bird or otherwise). When I say this is the worst experience, I truly mean it. I brought my parrot in on a holiday weekend at about 4 am. I already knew the diagnosis. It was obvious; we needed assistance to make her comfortable. Before even handing her over to the receptionist/AHT, we asked if the doctor on shift (Dr. Latif) had any experience with birds. She said yes. It wasn't long before we were brought into a room with armchairs to negotiate his fees. He said flat out, he had no experience with birds. UHHHH... alright.. so what can you do for us? Well, for the estimated price of $1400-$1600, I could have my bird stay with them overnight and have a number of unnecessary tests done. OH, and POSSIBLY have a specialist brought in the next day to see her. POSSIBLY. After pointing out the extraneous fees and tests, he dropped the price range to $600-800. I was incredibly offended that he would even try to take advantage of me and my bird like he had. There was NO WAY I was leaving my bird in the hands of a dishonest man... who had no experience with birds. What? Didn't make enough money over the holiday weekend, that he tried to maximize the amount of money he could make off of my bird? I left having to pay the $126 exam fee, incredibly frustrated since: A) I was told the doctor had experience with birds, when he didn't. B) The very snotty receptionist/AHT said to me, in response to me having mentioned this fact, "Oh, no she [the other AHT/receptionist] wouldn't have said that." REALLY? What do I have to gain from lying about her saying that? NOTHING. That is just unprofessional and misleading. Educate your staff on what you do/do not have experience with... and keep the rude ones away from the front desk where money is collected. C) There was no gain from the visit. Nothing was done to make my bird comfortable. I did not leave with more knowledge than I came with. I could have probably taught him a thing or two about birds. If you have a bird, go to Delton Veterinary Hospital and see Dr. Person. He will do EVERYTHING in his power to squeeze you in for an emergency appointment. That is a doctor that TRULY cares about the welfare of his patients. You can tell he genuinely loves animals. (***ADDED: I looked on the FB page of Delton and someone had asked about them seeing hedgehogs. Instead of them being dishonest and saying they saw them, they referred them elsewhere. That's what I call a good veterinary practice. Take note.) I can't say anything about taking other species here, but knowing that Dr. Latif had no problem trying to take money for what he had no experience with, I would not recommend it. Go to Guardian on 99th for an emergency veterinarian. From my experiences with them (avian and canine), they won't charge you NEARLY as much for the same services.

We will never find the words to sufficiently thank Mohamed, Ahmed and the staff at VetEmerg for saving our little Cielo again and again, but we will start by saying we could not have had a more skilled, knowledgeable and caring team looking after our very sick little dog on her long road back to recovery. From the original gallbladder surgery, then pancreatitis and complications with her complications, including getting her diabetes back under control, you were amazing and we know that Cielo was not only well cared for but loved. You have our gratitude and appreciation forever. Cielo, Jim and L.J.

Me and my sister bought her dog in, who was very sick. The staff were all great, everything was explained thoroughly and the Vet (Dr. Ahmed) was very compassionate. I hope we don't need their services again but if we do or anybody needs emergency vet care, it's great to know that there is caring professionals out there to do their best.
