I took my dog into Dr. Burstyn for her annual checkup. I got a really weird vibe from this vet. I don't know exactly why but he seemed really creepy. I am going to find another vet in town, that way I don't have to feel creeped out every time I take her in for a check-up.
When I first moved to BC, I took my cat to another clinic that said they really cared about the welfare of animals- especially cats. One morning, I woke up to my cat coughing up blood. I called my regular vet at that time and they said they were too busy to see him! Using Google, I found Arbutus West and have never regretted taking my cat Ozzy there once. We discovered that he has a chronic condition that needs to be managed with care. The staff at Arbutus treat Ozzy with such amazing care and treat me with great compassion. I would highly recommend them and have to several people who have been really happy with the service and results. As a pet owner, you feel like your pet is family- like a child you care for. Seeing them sick is hard and makes you feel powerless. Walking out of Arbutus West each time, I feel like I have made good decisions based on well educated recommendations and compassion and care for both Ozzy and me. When you walk in, read their mission statement. They really mean it!
Earlier this week a seagull got hit by a car, and was extremely injured. I saw it on the road and pulled over. I called animal services multiple times, and when they finally answered, they told me to bring it to an extremely far SPCA, so I tried driving there, but I saw Arbutus West Animal Clinic on the way, so I ran in there instead. I gave them no notice, but they were extremely kind and took the seagull in with no questions. They were extremely caring and gentle with it. They didn't charge me for their service and they even let me go into the back to wash my hands with their antibacterial soap. I just wanted to thank them again for helping me as I was extremely stressed out and didn't know how to help the bird. Thanks so much!
This is my "go to" place for animal care! I have quite a few rats and when one was bleeding from inside, they took her right away as an emergency dropoff. They called me at every stage to tell me the details of what they found and the options available to me, even being conscious of "keeping a budget". They even keep what could potentially be biopsied for a year in case I need to know what went on with her. And she was home the same day from emergency surgery! The caring nature of the staff is evident from the first step in the door. I know I don't have to worry when I take my ratpack there.
Thank you for the lovely revues! We are passionate about helping pets and the people who love them, and we are glad that is shows.
