Took them over two months to NOT find the cause for my dogs allergies, and performing tests (blood, fungus, etc), some without telling us it was an additional cost. The women at Tysol (pet store) knew it was a food allergy straight away and solved the problem for us by recommending a different food. Over $400 in fees at this vet with no results versus $30 from Tysol that worked. Took him back with a small puncture wound a year later. Didn't even clean the wound, and told us we can do it ourselves with saline and polysporin. It took longer to charge us the $75 than the care they gave our dog. Will not return.
Actually the correct method to pick-up or restrain a cat is by scruffing them. This is a scientific and proven fact, it is taught in Vet schools and Vet Tech Schools..No doubt u regret not choosing the Anesthetic/sedation, you have now traumatized your cat.
I took my cat in to be checked out. Although the vet and assistant were very friendly and kind to him, and the vet seemed to know what she was talking about, things went bad as they tried to get a blood sample. I urged them to try to get a blood sample (without anaesthetic) when I could see that my cat was nervous - which I admit was poor judgement on my part. I recoiled in horror as they tried too pick up my 16lb senior old cat by the scruff of his neck! Of course this completely enraged him and even CHOKED him! He was YOWLING and screaming as they tried to hold him, and retching when they stopped. It was TRAUMATIZING seeing a cat that I love so much being hurt like that. I really question my judgement now, but I let them take him to another room to try for the blood sample. I asked them not to grab his neck because he didn't seem to like it. In the room he yowled and made noises I have never even heard. The assistant afterwards told me they do that to release chemicals to calm cats down. Oh REALLY? I never want to go through that again. I never want my cat to go through that again. The more I think about it, the worse I feel about the experience. I don't know if holding a cat by the scruff is standard or not, but it was clear that my cat was suffering as they did it and they didn't stop.
