I took my beloved cat into the clinic for a check-up as I noticed he was having trouble breathing and his heart rate was fast. He did not look sick, was still eating and getting around even though he was 16 years old. In about a half hour Dr Eisen said that he had congestive heart failure and that he would not recover. She said he would not have more than 6 months and it would be expensive to treat him. I did not want him to suffer and I was in “shock” but I was convinced to put him down immediately. It was at the end of the day so after about 45 minutes of not seeing my precious Dharma they called me into the back room where he was spread out on a table in TERROR! I put his head in my hands and wanted to spend a few moments with him but the Dr. injected him immediately! He jerked in pain; I managed to tell him I loved him and he was gone! I was devastated!!! I went into shock and mourning for over a week, he was like a beloved family member. I am not criticizing the Doctor's diagnosis but I feel they lack compassion and understanding and need to review their procedures in these difficult situations. I do not think any decision to put your pet down should be done on the spot when a person is in shock. Making Dharma comfortable and taking him home for the night to prepare a loving environment for his passing would have been much more humane and easier for me to live with. Many clinics have special rooms where you are allowed to sit with your pet for awhile as well as give the pet a shot first to just relax them. None of this was offered or done. This was very cruel as well as traumatic for me. I was then handed a bill for $450.00.
I love this clinic. Dr. Amanda Gordon solved our rescue dog's food allergies which were causing him to suffer immensely - he was constantly scratching his ears and eyes, and chewing his paws until they bled. It was no small feat: We went through multiple foods and medications, and finally found a combination that worked. Now he's almost totally normal, so it was a remarkable turnaround. Both vets are very patient, and great communicators who carefully explain everything and answer all questions. Their staff is very kind and efficient, too. We feel very fortunate to have found this clinic. Highly recommended.
The absolute WORST, least caring vet I have ever been to. Ive owned and cared for dogs my entire 42year life and ive never been treated with such disrespect and lack of professionalism. This vet wanted me to put my dog under anesthesia to have an xray because he was growling. When I expressed concern over this, she immediately got angry, flew into a rage, and stormed out of the room while throwing her gloves. It was like dealing with a child. Absolutely deplorable. If you take your animal here, you just don't love it much.
Great vetrinarians, horrible receptionist. I've been taking my dog here since I've had her, and so far the vetrinarians here (especially John) have exceptional service as to taking care of my dog. The only problem I've encountered is the receptionist.. there's 2, and unfortunately I can't remember the name of the older looking one. I was going to have my pet travel with my overseas, and needed the forms filled out so that CFIA (Canada Food Inspection Agency) can stamp her and approve her of going with me. Unfortunately, this receptionist got upset with me that "she's never seen such forms", even though I've been told by the nicer receptionist that many of their clients take their animals overseas. So I kindly explained to this obviously slow receptionist what to do, and I was told to come back in 30ish minutes and she'd have them done. Needless to say, I paid $50 for those forms from the vet, and went to CFIA to have them be filled out WRONG. I was lucky the guy at CFIA rewrote all the forms properly for me (she hadn't filled out the rabies vaccination expiry date properly, not even close to the same date, month & year) and only charged me the $20 once. I would recommend this vet to everyone, if they got rid of that horrible, bad attitude receptionist. She obviously is slow in the head and is miserable with her life and takes it out on others. If it wasn't for her, the vet would have a full 5 stars.
