I have been taking my dog here for a couple years without problems. Mostly for anal gland expression and the occasional check up. I went in this afternoon for my dogs 8 week anal gland visit, only to be told that the price had jumped to a whopping $45 plus tax! Information that would have been appreciated when I booked the appointment a week earlier! I cancelled the appointment and re-scheduled with the Urban Vet Clinic on Davie that still only charges $30. I find this price jump to be atrocious, especially when the total visit takes about 2 minutes and isn't even preformed by the doctor. Not informing their clients until they have arrived is such poor customer service. They could have informed me on the phone when I booked, or they could have honoured the original price and let me know that next time would be $15 more, or they could have sent out a letter letting their clients know of the new prices by mail. I will never return to the West End Veterinary Clinic and I will let everyone know how little they value their customers.
My review of West End Animal Hospital; Our adventure with this clinic started out pleasant, our cat was noticeably getting skinner and skinner so we decided he needed to go in and see the vet. West end clinic was the only thing available at the time so we didn't have much choice. We took sobe in our 7 year old Siamese seal point who only weighed around 7 pounds at the time. The vet suggested to do blood work so we did. A few days later I still have not found out any results even though the lady at the front desk told me she would contact me before noon due to the urgency of the situation. Still no call by 3pm so i decided i needed to go there and speak to the vet myself. It wasn't good news, her suspicion was lymphoma cancer. Her diagnosis at the time was to open my cat up for exploratory surgery and gave me a quote of around 3,000.00. I thought it was strange no x-ray? No ultrasound? No pee test? Nothing. So i went to get a second opinion and they also told me exploratory surgery would most like kill my cat due to his fragile state and perhaps i should try and ultrasound , or endoscopy since its less invasive. I went back to speak to the vet this time at highlands animal hospital which is why they're also being reviewed since it's their sister company. I protested to the vet i didn't want to do exploratory surgery, she then suggested ultra sound. Why wasn't this brought up in the first place? So confused. I told her i didn't want him being put to sleep... I felt my cat wasn't strong enough to survive the sedation and she actually agreed. I brought my cat in 4 days later to get his ultrasound... Came back around 6pm to pick him up. In fact they had sedated him to do fine needle aspirations total cost around 1200 bucks. I was upset because i didn't want my cat to get sedated and they did it anyways without even calling me first. I had asked for the results of his ultrasound since this is what any normal person would want after just shelling out tons of cash to get this procedure done. The technician came into the room stumbling her words all over the place and indicated she couldn't tell me the results as it would be against the law. Only the vet could tell me and she wouldn't get back to me for another 4 days since she is busy and on her days off? 4 days to tell me the results of my cat that is extremely ill? This didn't seem logical. I demanded a copy of the report and they gave me it.Well the very next day my cat Sobe died, he never fully recovered from the sedation. Almost a week later i tried to call the vet 3 times and 5 emails left several message with no reply back. Finally the vet doc calls me and tells me my cat was VERY sick and if it was her cat she would have put him down. This clinic made my cat suffer for 4 days leaving me with some sort of hope that maybe i could provide him some sort of treatment. Instead he suffered because of them.Everyone should know this clinic is terrible, never trust them. And when you do write a bad review about them they'll do everything to remove it. You have all been warned.
Took my puppy there twice. It's a little small, but clean and cute. The staff there are great, and was really impressed by Sandy (vet) and how thorough and patient she is. However, I wasn't pleased with having to spend almost $400 for her 2nd and 3rd set of shots. We went in for her "puppy wellness exam" and was told that when we come back for the 3rd set of shots in 3 weeks that we wouldn't have to pay for an exam as they last 30 days. Well I was charged for an exam again. I feel like I was misled, not very good business practice.
