They have treated all four of my GSD's at one time or another. Two of them had torsion. A very serious situation. They were triaged promptly and entered into surgery almost immediately. They were both saved. My senior was given an ultra sound on the urging of his chiropractor. The clinic discovered a mass on his spleen. Even though he was 12.3 years old at the time I went ahead with surgery. When the pathology report came back it showed he had a very aggressive form of cancer called Hemangiosarcoma. The surgeon, Dr Bolliger I believe was his name, got the spleen out without rupture. These dogs typically survive 6 weeks to 80 days. He is now 14 years and 4 months old. Yes this type of service is not cheap. They are running a hospital. Like was previously mentioned here consider getting pet insurance. I did as I did not want finances to factor into any decision I made in regards to my pets.

MONEY HUNGRY PEOPLE!!! We brought in our 12 week old kitten to them because she had swallowed a sewing needle from my sewing stuff, with the thread attached. My husband had pulled the needle out of her mouth, but there was only half a needle, which got us worried. We loaded our kids in the car and drove to the vet. When we walked in we told the front what happened, our kittens nose was covered in dry blood and she was shaking. We were then told how much is was going to cost us, $164.00 examination fee, not including x-rays. We said we didn't have the money, could they take a payment plan, cheques etc.........NO, was the answer. But here, call some of these numbers for help to pay for charity. They wouldn't even look at her until we paid. We left, crying children in tow. The insensitivity of the staff, was disgusting. We are pet lovers and would do anything we could for them, but outrageous charges as mentioned above can cause hardship for many families. We got home and watched her over night, she seems to be okay as of now. We will wait to take her anywhere but back to the Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital. If you have a pet emergency DO NOT take your loved animals here.

We had a scare that one of our cats had ingested a thumbtack so we immediately called CVVH. We were told there would be a $160 examination fee with an additional cost for the x-ray. We were willing to pay whatever price for our baby, but since the x-ray wasn't included in the examination, we asked what it entailed. We had already checked the throat, so there wasn't much else that could be done without an x-ray. The woman beat around the bush, using vague language, ultimately concluding to disclosing absolutely nothing, which actually revealed quite a lot, as in the $160 examination was hardly more than a cash grab. I am appalled that these people would take advantage of those in distress. If they had just said the x-ray was $160, that would have been more than acceptable. We found the thumbtack shortly after the call was made, so our baby is fine and dandy. However, we will NEVER bring our babies here and we'll make sure to warn others as well.

I've taken my dog to this vet hospital twice now, and although it's definitely pricey, I can't say enough about the staff and level of care provided. My pup had to go in today for an emergency day-long procedure and Dr. Bissett was fantastic. She was extremely gentle with my dog who was in a lot of pain at the time and I was able to leave him there feeling at least comfortable that he was in good hands. I spoke with the front desk staff several times on the phone and they were very helpful and considerate, and also spoke to Dr. Bissett on the phone and at pick-up time (arrived at the hospital at 9am, picked up at 8:30pm and the vet was there the whole time, those are long hours!). Dr. Bissett even remembered my dog from the only other time he's been there, which was two years prior. I'm impressed and thankful for her and staff's competency and kindness on a stressful day.

The service was a bit slow and it was very expensive. But both these things are to be expected at an emergency clinic. However, it was unclear what services were being provided and I wasn't kept very well-informed during my visit. I looked on my bill afterwards, and my cat was sedated, which they didn't tell me about - and as she was there because she swallowed something and needed induced vomiting, sedation makes no sense because it would make the vomiting dangerous as she could asphyxiate! I know as an emergency clinic they have a monopoly over after-hours and emergency care, but I will be avoiding using this clinic again unless necessary.
