April 8 2014 my 21lb dog Tonic was viciously attacked by a Great Dane and Akita who lived in the same building as us. My friend who was on the phone with me during the attack found Dr.Gobriels number and contacted him, I was frantic and completely freaking out, Tonic was alive but he was badly hurt. I wasn't sure if he would survive. It was after hours when the attack happen, and the clinic was closed. Dr.Gobriel and one of the staff members arrived to the hospital within mins of getting the call from my friend. The Doc was so calming and relaxed, he tried to help me calm down but it was very hard. Tonic was bleeding so much and shaking so hard and panting so hard, we both were so scared. The assistant that was there with him was also so friendly and calming, it took a while but at some point I was able to stop crying and listen to their information. They took Tonic and advised me the surgery would take approx. 2hrs and that I should go home and wait for them to call me to know when I can come back and pick Tonic up. It was hard to leave but from the moment I met the Doc and stepped into the office I knew I could trust them. Tonic underwent surgery which ended around 1am, the Doc and his assistant explained everything to me in simple terms and the Doc assured me that if I needed him at anytime he was available, and he definitely was from late night/early morning phone calls, to emails and text messages, I was always able to get an answer. The attack happened on a Tuesday, Tonic revisited the Doc on the Friday and by Monday he had to be admitted because of a very bad infection he got during the attack. During this time was one of the most difficult things I had ever experienced and my son who was 3 at the time was also finding it very hard to deal with and not to mention Tonic who after all that trauma now had to spend nights away from me while he stayed at the hospital on a IV to fight the infection and save his life. Dr. Gobriel and his staff made it so that I never had to worry. Tonic stayed at the hospital for 13 days, I was able to visit Tonic daily and even bring my son as well. Dr. Gobriel will be Tonics vet permanently. They saved his life and there aren't many words that can express how grateful I am. The Doc and his staff always make me smile they are always happy and they treat me and Tonic like family. Everyone at EMVH is amazing, and the crazy thing is, they treat all the animals and pet owners the same way they treat me and Tonic, great, with respect, they show empathy, understanding and they're goal is your goal; to help our beloved pet family members, be their best. Tonic is much better now and I have Dr. Gobriel and his staff to thank for that. Tonic just turned 5 July 2014 we've been to a few vets since his birth and I must say EMVH have been the best.
