The staff at Holistic Vet are second to none. I have two westies, currently aged 13 and 14; soon to be 14 and 15 years old. Just under a year ago, both were diagnosed with Chronic Cushings. Their health was changing rapidly. I really thought that I was going to lose them both. A friend referred me to Dr. Sasan at the Holistic Vet. Now, less than a year later with the treatment received at Holistic Vet, both dogs no longer exhibit any symptoms of Cushing's. Having two dogs can be quite expensive. Dr. Sasan has been sensitive to this. True, from preliminary observations, it may appear to be more expensive to go the holistic route when compared to going to the conventional vet. However, when one considers the possible side effects of conventional meds ( e.g., frequent antibiotics and steroids to treat the skin problem my male dog has); my dogs are healthier now than they have ever been using the natural herbs that Dr. Sasan has advised. I no longer have to pay for the expensive Vetoryl drug. The herbs can be expensive, but I know that they, unlike the Vetoryl initially prescribed by my conventional vet, are creating a stronger immune system for my dogs without derogatory side effects associated with Vetoryl. I am thankful for my other vet at Dundas East who supported me in my decision to go to the Holistic Vet. He, too, wanted to see what other therapies were out there that would help my dogs, and recognized the limitations of the conventional medicinal practices to meet my dogs' needs. We are still working on my dog Robbie's skin condition (seasonal allergies. Also Westies are prone to skin problems, particularly males). Now, I am no longer paying incurring costs to pay for additional meds to offset the side effects or temporary relief provided by the drugs already given (e.g., antibiotics, steroids). From this perspective, the investment is well worth it, and the cost is cheaper in the long run. One of the meds that Dr. Sasan recommended for ear infections is Zymox. It is not an antibiotic but nevertheless is amazing in its overall results using enzymes. I have just discovered Zymox has now put out a similar shampoo and conditioner for the skin condition my westie Robbie is having. I purchased it online, and have just begun to use it. The results have been incredible. So, anyone out there who has a pet who is troubled with dermatitis, seasonal allergies, here is a plug as well for Zymox, which I never would have known about if it was not for Dr. Sasan. My westie Robbie for the first time is not scratching!! My dog Robbie thanks you, Dr. Sasan!
