My dog Cody, a Chinese Crested, has been seeing Dr. Gignac for more than 6 years. We've had nothing but great care and service. Dr. Gignac and his staff are always friendly, helpful, and caring. We often take Cody to Florida for extended holidays. Dr. Gignac and his staff ensure that our vaccines are up-to-date and keep us abreast of health concerns we may encounter while travelling (ie heart worm or fleas). They've come to the rescue a few times when I've forgotten Cody's Vaccine certificate at home, emailing and/or faxing copies of the certificates within minutes of our requests. Last summer I noticed a lump on Cody's back. I monitored it closely for about a month, but when it did not disappear (as I had hoped it would). I took him to see Dr. Gignac. He examined the lump and determined it looked suspicious. He took a sample for biopsy and explained to me in detail what the course of action would be if cells in the sample were abnormal. Dr. Gignac responded to my concern with the perfect combination of understanding, care, and honesty. The biopsy revealed abnormal cells and within a few days Cody underwent surgery to remove this menacing lump. Surgery was extensive. It involved a long T-shape incision on Cody's small back and he required a number of stitches to close the incision. I was surprised at how large the tumor appeared. It seemed to be the size of a golf ball, maybe even larger when taking into account the surrounding tissue that was removed (to ensure removal of all abnormal cells). Needless to say, Cody was in quite a bit of pain and confused after the operation. For the first 3 or 4 days he wouldn't eat, drink, or even relieve himself. He was anxious and needed to be held continually, which was unusual for him. We, too, were quite anxious and contacted Dr. Gignac numerous times that first week. Each time we called Dr. Gignac and his staff were patient, caring and understanding. We brought Cody in a few times and Dr. Gignac alleviated our fears each time. Within a few weeks Cody's health improved and he returned to his old ways (thankfully!). Best of all, a further biopsy revealed that Dr. Gignac had successfully removed the tumor; no abnormal cells were found in surrounding tissue. The incision is a minor scar now and Cody has no recollection whatsover of his surgery. He is still excited to visit. We are very thankful to Dr. Gignac and Yorkville Animal Clinic for taking great care of Cody since 2007. We are confident that we receive the highest quality of veterinary service available and, as a result, we can look forward to many healthy and happy years with Cody.
My two beagles are always very happy to visit! They get taken care of and we love the attention that they receive. They are also very patient not only with our two boys but with us as well - they are always open to questions and flexible when we need to see them or change things at the last minute. Thanks so much for everything!
