I do not typically write reviews, but I was genuinely distressed about the negative review written Ms. Jacoby. I am sorry about her ill pet; I know this is always stressful. However, I have to believe that this was merely a misunderstanding by someone with limited experience at this clinic. We have taken all of our pets to Weatherly Animal Hospital in Alabaster for more than 15 years and have always received exceptional care. They were amazingly compassionate when our elderly dog had to be put to sleep, and were literally there holding our hand through the whole thing. Additionally, we board our dogs there when we go on vacation---which believe me---requires a great deal of trust! I assume that Ms. Jacoby was referring to Michelle when she talked about the 'receptionist'. Michelle is the office manager, and even more than being a professional, she has always proven to be a compassionate individual with a house full of her own pets. Again, I have to assume that there was a miscommunication problem. I hope that others with medical emergencies or those looking for a safe, compassionate practice to take care of their pets will give Weatherly a chance. They say that they think of themselves as the 'other' family doctor, and I believe them.
I use both the Weatherly and Southlake clinics depending on where my day takes me. I have had nothing but wonderful experiences at both locations. The staff always know my pets by name and always have time to explain everything to me concerning my pets care. I'm a pet Mom of two cats, one of whom is diabetic and has been for 4 years now - thanks to great care he is doing wonderful. I also have two dogs and one of them suffers from allergies - he gets lots of love and care at the clinic plus they call on a regular basis just to check and see that he is doing ok. Last year, we had to put our 15 year old dog down, the compassion and care we received at the Southlake clinic made our experience so much easier. Our pets will be patients of the Weatherly & Southlake clinics for life. From Syrius, Evie, Kovu, Mika, Lori & Bart - Thank You !!!!
When we visited this clinic, our dog was x-rayed by Dr. Leedy and we were told he more-than-likely had terminal cancer. She told us Dr. Brunner would review the x-rays and give us a call with a second opinion. I didn't receive a call, but when I followed up the next week, Dr. Brunner acted as though he had never reviewed the x-rays and basically read me Dr. Leedy's notes. We had to take our dog back when he became unable to walk and Dr. Leedy was very nice, but when I mentioned our unhappiness with Dr. Brunner and how we felt he did not take the time to adequately review the x-rays, the receptionist became defensive and basically called me a liar. As someone with a dying family pet with no hope of getting better, we were less than happy with the clinc's obscene lack of compassion. Dr. Leedy was nice enough, but we have opted to switch to a farther away, more expensive clinic because they just seem to care more.
Weatherly has to be one of the best clinics I have been to. The staff is exceptional at thier jobs, and are very friendly to both the animals and their owners. :) I won't be going anywhere else.
