Even though I live almost an hour from Auburn Vet Hospital, I board my dog there any time I need to go out of town. I was looking for places to board my dog closer to home, but they were all in the middle of the city with very little green space. My cousin suggested Auburn Vet Hospital. They are FANTASTIC. The prices are so reasonable, lower than most places, and yet their service is wonderful. Sometimes I have to make a boarding reservation last minute and they are always so accommodating and flexible. Whenever I drop my dog off, they take him outside for exercise right away. I know the staff spend time with the animals, because when I pick my dog up at the end of his stay they tell me all about him and how he plays, things they could only know from playing with him. My dog knows when we're going there, and it's all I can do to keep him in the car when we pull in, and he definitely doesn't want to leave. It makes me feel better leaving him, knowing that he has such a great time. Thanks Auburn Veterinary Hospital!

I took my cat there to be spayed. Although the service was acceptable, they kept her overnight, and I'm not sure if they fed her while she was there. She was starving when she got back, but that can be overlooked because I am not a vet, and perhaps there was some reason for it. What really left a bad taste in my mouth was the pricing. Before having my cat spayed I called around town and asked for quotes, and the Auburn Vet Hospital was by far the lowest. I spoke to someone on the phone who told me that it would be $50 to spay a cat, which is really low, but not unbelievable because it is not that far off from what you would expect to pay at a spay and neuter clinic. So I made an appointment. I brought her in, dropped her off, and pick her up the next day. But when I got my bill I was in for a shock. The total was not the quoted price of $50 but was instead $156.00! After looking over the itemized list of charges I decided not to argue with the receptionist because I knew it wouldn't do any good, and I was just ready to get Louise (my cat) and get out of there. While looking over my bill, I noticed that in fact the actual "spaying" (listed as OHE -cat) was $50, but then there was a $10 charge for one type of pain med, a $16 charge for another type, a $27 charge for anesthesia, and $10 for an anti inflammatory med. All of these charges where actually for the use of something, or some medication, but then there were two charges one $16 charge for "Hospitalization" and a $27 charge for "Operating Room." What are those even for other than to tack on and increase the bill? This is a really poor business practice; Auburn Vet Hospital is misrepresenting their prices to draw customers in and then slapping them with a big bill at checkout time. If they had been upfront about the cost I may have still chosen them, but now I will never go there again!

I have used other local veterinarians for all of my pet needs- including boarding. As a student, the prices I have paid elsewhere for local boarding and care in general were too high for my budget. (Much higher than my hometown veterinarians) So I was very pleased to see that the prices for boarding here were much lower that what I had been paying- plus the location was closer and staff friendlier. I boarded my dog for a week yet ended up coming back a few days early. When I arrived, my dog was getting exercise and enjoying himself. I don't think he even wanted to leave! I will definitely be back and recommend that others board here as well. I did try to board here in the past (last-minute) during Spring Break and they were full, so booking ahead of time is probably the best idea (especially holidays!)
