July 2015 will make TWENTY YEARS that the superb doctors and staff at Care have nurtured and healed my beloved dogs. They stay "cutting edge" with respect to new knowledge in the field, are astute diagnosticians of all types of ailments, take time to explain treatment options, and are compassionate to both the patient and the owner. In addition to my own 16 dogs, I provide foster care for mother dogs and pups for local animal shelters. I am a board certified psychiatrist who also helps wounded warriors to obtain service dogs, and have helped to place retired military service dogs in loving homes. The team at Care, in their treatment of my pets, are MY therapists and I am incredibly thankful for them.

We brought our Buddy in for grooming at 7:30am on 1/7/15 which required a special trip from the East side of Dothan to the West side. At 12:30pm, 5 hours later, I received a call that the groomer was not coming in that day - did it take 5 hours to determine that? So it was necessary for me to stop what I was doing and come to pick up our Buddy. And of course it was necessary to reschedule the grooming for next week. When they called to tell me the groomer was not coming in I was ask if they should go ahead and wash him - assuming that was to compensate me for the inconvenience I said yes. When I paid the bill there was a charge for $29.50 to wash Buddy, which seemed like quite a lot of $$$ for just a quick wash job. They also tried very hard to sell me on a wellness exam which would have cost $49.95 for the basic exam, plus $34.50 to check for heart worms, plus $29.95 for a fecal exam, and $64.35 for a blood evaluation. That's a total of $178.75. When I add this amount to the rest of my bill for the various vaccinations he received while waiting for the groomer that didn't appear, including the wash job, it would have come to $309.75 and I'm beginning to think I can no longer afford to use the Care Animal Center. We love our Buddy, but, this has gotten ridiculous.
