I have read all the negative reviews and felt compelled to give my experience which was quite different. I do admit when I first called this clinic the receptionist answering the phone was extremely unpleasant but do to the fact that this is the only clinic for emergency, my husband and I didn't let that deter us. Dr. Loral Sayre..the vet on duty was wonderful and seemed to really care...she sent us home to watch my Dachshund who unfortunately digressed thru the night and needed surgery next day. Dr. Martin did the surgery and was overwhelmingly compassionate and understanding...even MORE important he did an excellent surgery with outstanding results...we are 2 days post op and my dog is recovering remarkably. The staff was very welcoming and I must say I would not hesitate..GOD forbid...if I have another medical emergency to return to this clinic.

My dog developed prostatitis last week which is a very serious bacterial infection of the prostate. He had been to his regular vet in Ozark 3 times that week already. Friday night his penis became so enlarged, it protruded out for nearly 4 hours, and the circulation began to cut off. I called my regular vet's answerring service who referred me to Southern Regional for after hours service. The lady was rude and wouldn't give me any advice over the phone. I did my own research online and was able to solve my issue for the night. The next morning I returned to his regular vet. Saturday night his penis began to bleed and turned purple. I called his regular vet again and they referred me to the same clinic. Hoping I would get a different person this time, I called. I did get a different person but she was WORSE than the first person. Had a total attitude of not wanting to be working at midnight on a Saturday night. After explaining the situation and asking if I should bring him in right then or wait til morning or even Monday when my regular vet opened, she simply said, "In order for a vet to advise you of an emergency situation, you would have to agree to pay $250 now and bring the dog in to be checked by a vet." I was like, so you're telling me I have to wake my children up at midnight, load them and my dog in the van, drive a good 45 minute drive from where I live to Dothan and then drive around until I find your office for probably another 20 minutes, for the vet to tell me if it is or isn't an emergency situation... all for the low price of $250????!!!!! They wouldn't even tell me over the phone if I should bring him in or if it was something that could wait til morning. They are so money hungry that they like the rest of today's society only works for the almighty dollar instead of helping those in need. The money was not the issue as I fully understood before calling that if I had to bring him in at midnight I would expect a hefty bill to pay. The issue is that veterinary medicine is no different than human medicine. They took an oath similar to the hippocratic oath... “As a member of the veterinary medical profession, I solemnly swear that I will use my scientific knowledge and skills for the benefit of society. I will strive to promote animal health and welfare, relieve animal suffering, protect the health of the public and environment, and advance comparative medical knowledge. I will practice my profession conscientiously, with dignity, and in keeping with the principles of veterinary medical ethics. I will strive continuously to improve my professional knowledge and competence and to maintain the highest professional and ethical standards for myself and the profession.” How they can promise to do the above and still treat potential patients and clients as they do is hypocritical. Luckily, I was able to get him stable by 3 am and called his regular vet the next day. Update: I spoke to the owner of this clinic this morning. He informed me that the person who answered the phone that night was their answering service and that she was to merely inform me there would be a minimum fee of $250 if the vet had me bring in the pet. She was supposed to contact the vet and then they would call me back to tell me if I should bring my dog in. She never informed me she was the answerring service. She specifically said I had to pay $250 for the vet to tell me if it was an emergency only after I paid the $250 and only when I brought him in to be seen. I even repeated this information to her to make sure I understood. He said he would be discussing this with the answerring service. I give the after hours service that I received a poor rating. I give the owner a very good rating based on him taking time to explain and offer his apology. Overall rating, however would still have to be fair due to the circumstaces that this could have been a life or death situation.

This review is not based on their service or does not reflect the doctors of this Veterinary Practice. I have come across a very disturbing video on Vine that has this Veterinary Practice tagged as the place. The video is of a technician playing with an amputated arm of an animal. When others commented that they did not feel this post was appropriate, this person used extremely foul and derogatory language. As a veterinary technician myself, I feel like this is very disrespectful to the family of that animal who is now suffering without a limb. And it is extremely unprofessional to post such derogatory language while you are representing your place of work. It utterly shocks me that this type of behavior is tolerated.

MY dog died shortly after recieving treatment ,they said she wasnt an emergency and they needed to treat emergencies first meanwhile my dog lays there bleeding internally ,they said she only needed her wounds clened! I trusted their judgement, she was in their care for 9 hours did they even check on her before they scrubbed her body heck ,they even made her walk! tThe pain she had to go through due to their neglegence is something I cant take, .please if your pet is injured dont just trust their expert training, I did and my dog suffered terribly I have nightmares of the look iof terror she had in her eyes and the sounds of her cries as she lay there suffering.I loved her sooo very much .

Nice receptionist...lousy care of our dog. She was attacked by another dog with puncture wound to neck and noisy breathing-specifically told vet we thought she had a hole on her trachea. She reassured us after cleaning and closing all wounds under sedation that she didn't have a hole in trachea and she would be fine. Twelve hours later our beloved dog is undergoing emergency surgery to close the hole in her trachea and her fine regular vet. says she may not make it.
