They got my little baby Allie all better! Thank you all so very much. To briefly describe my visit, they were friendly, caring, knowledgeable, available at great hours too!

The only time my husband and I ever left a cat with a vet was at Becker and one of the techs messed up his diabetes medicine and killed him. We came to this conclusion after medicating him ourselves at home for 2 yrs. and being familiar with his reactions to the meds. It was Thanksgiving weekend and there was minimal staff on duty, mostly lower level, and it does take experience and focus to administer diabetes medication properly and communication between staff members about timing of doses is vital. The second day we were gone, one of the vets called to say our cat was not doing well; he was lethargic. Ten minutes later he called back to say he had died. We were both crushed. Because we didn't want to burden a friend or sibling with coming over twice a day for 5 days to administer shots, we put our trust in Becker and he failed us miserably. I will never board another animal there or take another animal to his clinic. 15 years later I'm still angry and sad when I think about what it must have been like for our sweet, friendly, easy-going boy. Not only to be in a strange place but to die among strangers.

I used this vet when I moved to Birmingham and my dog was bitten by a venomous snake - she spent 1 night at the ER Vet and this was the closest to me to take her for post-ER care. She went in with a catheter and the staff was friendly and vet was very nice. They examined my dog thoroughly and answered all my questions in detail. I only went there a couple times because of my dog's snake encounter but I don't remember the price being exorbitant and they bandaged my dog well, gave me antibiotic cream and instructions and made sure she wasn't in pain. My boyfriend also took his cats there for an exam and to treat an infected fight wound. On the return visit for another infection (same wound different puncture area) they were so impressed at our cats nonchalance and untroubled demeanor during exam that they didn't charge us for the visit, which was extremely nice of them.

I sent a friend in to pick up my dogs heartworm prevention. I told her to ask specifically for heartworm prevention and to make sure they checked my dogs records to give her the same kind she got the month before, but the receptionist not only failed to check like she was asked to, but after being told several times that we needed heartworm prevention, she gave us a flea pill. She said repeatedly it was the correct pill, until my friend finally left. She even said I had gotten it before, even though I had only bought heartworm prevention from them. I then had to go return this pill, and buy the proper heartworm prevention, only to find the price had gone up 40 dollars and they would not match pet meds unless I went home and printed out the website saying the lower price. If this wasn't enough, when I asked what kind of heartworm could not be given the sheperds, she did not know and would not ask anyone else working to find out. Since then I have asked two other vet receptionists, both who were able to answer this question right off the bat. I would never recommend this vet to anyone. They are ridiculously over priced, unhelpful, and if you has a shepherd of any breed you are libel to get fatal heartworm prevention from them.
