We have been taking animals to Companion Animal Care for about 9 years. They have great staff and great vets who genuinely care about the animals, their owners, and even the cost to the owners. Every checkup, every procedure, has been handled well. They've given us great advice every time. Although they do not consider themselves an exotic pet vet, but they've even given us some good advice for some of our others pets (guinea pigs, etc.) as well.

We were referred from a friend to Companion and took our Yorkie/Shih tzu mix to her first appt. at 9 weeks and absolutely loved it. The staff made us feel very welcome and the vet was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. I can't wait to take our puppy back for her next visit.

We have had the best experience here at Companion Animal Care. We have taken 2 Yorkies and two cats to see the vet here. The whole staff is always friendly and helpful. We recently found a 4 week old kitten in a gutter. We took it to the vet for an exam and the doctor was so helpful. He told us in detail what we needed to do to keep the kitten healthy. It really put me at ease to have them take the time to talk with us. Great place! I recommend it to anyone with a pet!

I recently got a 1 .5 year old shih tzu mix. I took him to the vet on Friday May 3rd. Vet did blood work, gave him IV fluids and medicine. I visited my dog that Friday afternoon. Asked if he should be on IV's that night. Vet said no, did not recommend sending to emergency vet. Said he wanted to keep him overnight to see if he ate. Picked up dog Sat around 11 am. Vet said my dog ate Friday night and a little that morning. Vet did not seem concerned. He did say to go to Decatur's emergency clinic versus Huntsville. I brought my dog home and he did not seem any better. He seemed worse. I took him to the emergency clinic in Decatur that Sat afternoon 5/4. He was so dehydrated they had to put an Iv into his neck. They did blood work, and determined he had Parvo. While I was looking for Tamiflu at a pharmacy my dog died. I had taken him to the same vet (Companion Animal Care) almost 2 weeks earlier for a scratch on his eye and recheck 7 days ago. I believe he contracted Parvo at his office and am very disappointed that the vet did not recognize how serious my dogs condition was. My family is deeply hurt because of our loss.

If you are looking for a vet that will personally get involved with your pet. If you want a vet that seems to really care about your animals this is your place. As far as vets in the area are concerned they have very fair pricing. We have 4 dogs 2 large and 2 tiny and they do just fine here. My wife is very picky where her teacup poodle stays and this is it.
