So far we've been there for 2 dentals and a myriad of other visits for routine work, infections, etc...for two cats. The staff and veterinarians have always been respectful, professional and above all else effective and knowledgeable. I went through 3 other vet services before I found this one, and I can honestly say I do not doubt their capacity or integrity. I feel good about it when I trust them with my family members. Cheap vetcare isn't good and good vetcare isn't cheap (though they're really not that bad). Thank you Madison Vet Hospital, you are appreciated.
Took our dog there only because our vet was not open on Saturday. Injury happened on Friday evening. They would not allow me in the examining room. While waiting, I over heard the receptionist trying to sell any and everything to people bringing and picking up pets. When people didn't want to buy she gave them a guilt trip. Upon returning to our vet I was told the work they charged me for they did not do.
Looks nice on the inside, but just another place that cares more about your checkbook then your pet and they know people in the surrounding affluent neighborhoods will pay whatever price they want to for their pet. I love my pet as well and will pay a lot of money for care that is needed. That being said, there is a certain level of ambivalence here that belies the superficial niceties --the politeness of the staff, cleanliness and professional look of the facilities, even a website; etc. --- You pay a lot but the care is not the best you expect for the price and you pay for things that are not necessary. Basically they tell you in very vague terms what treatment option (not options but 1 option, generally the most expensive one) they have for your pet once you bring him/her in for something specific. They don t give you cost upfront and don t even tell you every single thing they will do until you re ready to pay the bill. This has not only happened to me, but to several other people I ve met at the dog parks and in my parents neighborhood. My dog had several torn nails for which he needed to be sedated in order for the vet to cauterize the bleed and allow for proper healing. I specifically asked her to trim all his nails (he plays rough so I wanted to avoid it happening again). She did not. On my part, I should have checked prior to leaving; but given I TRUSTED this place, I took my dog and went home. A week later he is out playing and I noticed another nail is bleeding and appears torn. This nail, and a few others, were significantly longer (did not look like she trimmed it, they were quite long). I called the office and asked the vet tech if we could follow up. For another FIFTY dollars the dr. could look at it and see if it needed to be fixed again. FIFTY just to look at it and say what needed to be done. I told her I didn t think his nails were cut like I asked, which is the reason this happened AGAIN; therefore I felt they could at least look at it and if possible I d try to manage it at home. She said to bring him in and they could trim his nails (??)I took him in and a different tech took my dog back and the vet said the same thing happened. I said that if the nail had been cut this wouldn t have happened. Another young lady then came to me (office manager??) and said the vet did cut his nails appropriately and that my dog is just rough. DUH. No, he still had a few remaining nails that were long-I m not an idiot; she did not do what I asked nor what I think a vet who cared about her job would do. No attempt to rectify other than pay them to fix that nail that was torn. There are plenty of other vets in the area; pick someone else and leave this place for those who can squander their money away.
When our dog became sick recently we took her immediately to this hospital. It turned out to be an acute case of Pancreatitus. The doctors, nurses and staff diagnosed and began treating her. It was touch and go, and expensive - but she (our dog) is still with us and continues to improve. Thank you, The Mellema Family
The prices at this vet office are outrageous. I was charged $38.00 just for a re-check for my puppy's skin rash. I started taking her there as soon as I got her so we are established patients. Being charged $38.00 just for a recheck is ridiculous. Also, I had a 9 AM appointment and had to wait 40 minutes to see the vet. When I scheduled the appointment the week before, I was told they had open appointments all morning so I picked 9 AM. Why would I have to wait 40 minutes to see the vet?? They didn't apologize and there didn't appear to be any emergencies. Not sure if I will be going back here again. We are new to the area so I just hope we are able to find another vet that doesn't charge outrageous prices.
