Very disappointed with them. My wife and I have a 6 month old american bulldog, on the 24th to the 25th of June 2011 we noticed that Oreo was acting strange. He started to throw up non stop till he would just dry vomit. we took him the the vet on the 26th., we explained everything we knew that he might have gotten into (being a puppy they do that often) all the way down to cleaning supply. The vet informed us that it wasn't any of that and that its just a doggy form of tonsillitis so he gave us some antibiotics and said he would be fine in a couple of days. Well a couple of days passed and poor Oreo still was vomiting, he couldn't keep food or water down let alone medication. Oreo became very lethargic and unresponsive, so we took him to the Opelika Animal Hospital for a second check. They did a full exam. They found that Oreo was very dehydrated and that he had poor o2 levels and his kidney and white blood cell count was way up. they checked him over for the new strain of parvo (which Oreo was up to date on all his shots but the new strain has found a way to over ride the parvo shot currently in use). They found that he was negative on the parvo so they did a x-ray and found that he had eat some foreign objects (carpet strands, a toy, and grape stems etc.). So they ran a iv on Oreo for the dehydration and started to run a laxative to push the objects out of him and staredt him on a special dog food and a couple of other medications, also they held him till he got better. Now that Oreo is better and back to his bouncy and crazy self, I just want to let others know about our not so expert experience with this office. As a medical doctor for animals you would think that all vets would do a full exam on animals and not just jump to the nearest solution in order to move on to the next pay check. And THANK YOU to The Opelika Animal Hospital for you great care and concern for you animals.
