Our dog tore its cruciate ligament two days ago, on Monday, and we were told by our local vet, Dr. Higgins at Deer Creek AH, that she needed TPLO surgery on her knee if she was ever going to be able to walk normal again. We planned to have them do the surgery, but the earliest opening they had was too far out, as the surgeon was booked solid. As an alternative we looked up AZ Vet Specialists and they were able to perform the surgery today, on Wednesday. Our vet emailed the radiographs and pet records to them, and Dr. Dixon completed the procedure; we are expecting full recovery. We are very thankful to both vets for their ability to take such good care of our dog, as she is, part of our family. The teamwork between them was terrific, and the spot-on diagnoses by Dr. Higgins was critical. We knew we had to get this resolved before any damage occurred to her other leg, while she was hopping around like a tripod (it is heartbreaking thing to see your animal in this condition). Dr. Dixon is one of only a handful in the valley that can do this kind of procedure, so we are very thankful to our vets for helping us get our dog back to normal, and out hiking again.
