I brought my cats in for a routine exam. I was able to schedule them on the weekend so that is a huge plus since I work during the week and can't always make drop off / pick-ups. Dropped them off on a Sunday morning, and was told they would call if there were any issues, or when they were ready. Received a call when they kitties were ready and the Vet took the time to review the medical history and talked to me about concerns etc and gave advice. I have an additional pet this location hasnt seen and scheduled an appt for that pet. The vet was very honest about the schedule saying the next saturday there were four surgeries scheduled and it would be tough to work another appt in. I appreciated that the vet had the foresight to prioritize scheduled procedures, and took into consideration walk-in emergencies, and we were able to pick a day that worked better. Smooth check-in and check-out, and I know the Banfield brands push their wellness plans, but seriously I looked at my bill for two cats today $0.00. Can't beat that, and my YTD savings is well over $1300. So.. yeah do your homework, but paying a monthly fee for this plan is well worth the money rather than dropping $400 when I need an exam and bloodwork done.

I had the most horrible experience at Banfield and will NEVER go again. I went to Banfield because I didn't need an appt. My cat had thrown up a couple of times the day before and I noticed some diarrhea so I wanted to error on the side of caution and get her checked. After waiting for about 1.5 hours with 3 small children, Dr.Klien came in to examine my cat. She asked me some standard questions but oddly wouldn't answer any of mine. After the examination she just left without saying a word. Twenty or thirty minutes later, the assistant, Heather, came in and told me the Dr. had a treatment/diagnosis plan that included 30 necessary tests and treatments that would cost me $900.00-$1,100.00! To top it off, the treatment plan reads, "This estimate is for therapy to be administered in the next 24 hours." I told her I couldn't afford that and needed help figuring out which of the tests should be run first in order to treat her most effectively and efficiently. The assistant was rude and told me there was nothing more she or the Dr. could do for me until I decided what I wanted to do. She wouldn't even let me talk with the doctor again!! I felt like they thought I was a terrible cat mother for not spending whatever money I needed to in order to fix my cat. I had already been there for 3 hours and needed to leave with some kind of information. I also knew there was no way I needed to put my cat through 30 medical treatments/tests in one visit and spend $900.00-$1,100.00 to do it!!!!. That is absurd! That's not even humane to the poor cat!! I decided I would have the blood work done in order to find out if her internal organs were functioning, or to see if she had an infection that antibiotics would cure. Blood work came back showing internal organs functioning fine, but the white count was high indicating an infection. I went home, started her on antibiotics and later that night the vet called with more test results. She told me my cat was dehydrated and I needed to get her into the emergency clinic RIGHT AWAY for fluids. Then I was advised to bring her in the next day to see if she was still dehydrated. I'm no vet, but of course she would be hydrated after having IV fluids over night. I called the emergency clinic, gave them her test results and asked their opinion. I was told if she was drinking on her own she would most likely hydrate herself and to just watch her at home. Being a small cat they can dehydrate and hydrate quickly. The next day I took her to my regular vet to make sure she had hydrated herself and to get his opinion. He told me not to worry my cat was hydrated and most likely had a bacterial infection that the antibiotics would easily take care of. My beloved cat was back to normal the next day and it only took a little blood work and an antibiotic. Imagine that!!! I feel for the people who have been, or will be fooled or emotionally bullied into thinking this kind of medical treatment is standard, ethical or moral. It seems to me that Banfield has a protocol they are to follow and it's all about how much $ they can bring in. Yes, the initial office visit is less expensive, but will cost you more in the end. I felt is was a big bait and switch! I have spoken with several people who have had the same kind of experience. I hope it is not all Banfield clinics that "treat" this way.
