I had to take my dog, Gypsy to the clinic. It was around 3 in the morning. She was an old dog. I had her for close to 15 years. I knew that it was getting close to the time I had to let her go. I was hoping for another 15 years, she was that good of a dog. She went down hill real quick. I took her to 1st Pet because it was open 24 hours and I could not wait. The Doc. and Techs were very professional and sympathetic to my situation. I was a Vet Tech in the military and I know how it feels to put an animal down be it a pet or a stray. I thought it was a CLASS ACT when I got a sympathy card signed by the Doc and Techs today. Damn I miss that dog.
Run far away from this vet!! Have never had such a bad experience. My 7 month old puppy contracted parvo from the dog park after going one time (he was current on all of his shots and still got it). As soon as symptoms appeared we rushed to this hospital because it was the closest. From the very beginning once we entered the door they were unsympathetic and extremely judgemental. The vet tech kept lecturing me on the importance of puppy shots even though he was current on all of them she refused to believe me. They wanted $5,000 a night to keep and treat him for four days equaling $20,000. They acted like this was a cheap price and were very rude that I could not afford it. We were sent home with fluids and was told they were optimistic that he would survive based on his condition. The next day we were back and had to put him down, he was dying. I was devestated and completely distraught. Even in the final moments with my puppy the same vet tech was there again making comments about the importance of shots. Once he was gone and we were saying goodbye they had the front office clerk shoo us out of the room after only a few minutes. There was no compassion from anyone toward me or my four legged family member, he was just a price tag to them. It may save your pet's life to find another hospital that actually cares about treating them. I have since found many other vets that would have done the same treatment for $2,000 for all four days. If only I had known then, learn from my experience this place is a scam.
Brought my cat in after she had been mauled by a dog. I can't really say anything as to their quality of medical care, but I can say that their bedside manner was terrible. The vet who came out with the x-rays was basically incapable of telling us what was going on, and I had to pull the information from her. She spent a couple minutes talking about bladder stones when my main concern was the fact that my cat had been attacked by a dog! She also started in with the costs right away, and I felt like she pushed us towards euthanasia. I had to practically interrogate her to get a clearish description of what the best and worst case scenarios were. The worst part was when we were saying goodbye to our cat, who couldn't be moved. The staff just watched us the entire time, and one of the nurses looked at me when I made eye contact with her, looked at and pointed to her watch (they had a two hour wait at the time), and then looked meaningfully back at me. It was one of the most callous experiences I've ever had. In short, if your pet can survive the drive, go anywhere else. The pain of losing my beloved pet so suddenly was only made worse by the horrible experiences we had there.
Took my dog in at 11pm because he was attacked by another dog. I called before coming in and both the secratary and vet tech were so nice and so helpful. When I got there a ver tech came out within 30 seconds and took us back into a clean room. The entire staff was so KIND and you could tell they love dogs. Their nature and caring voices calmed me and my injured shepherd down. They did not charge me for cleaning and shaving his injured areas. His meds were very low priced and they took their time explaining med instructions with me. I will most definitely be using them as my full time veterinary clinic.
They kept my dog alive after a snake bite. I'm very pleased with everything from the way they treated my favorite dog I have ever had to the free snacks in the waiting room. Very professional and kind. Thank you.
