Love dealing with Dr. Hunt. Very down to earth and loves animals. Staff very friendly, prices reasonable. Highly recommend!
I had just taken my cat there a few months back for her annual check up and spent a thorough time with tests and getting all my information transferred since I recently moved to the area. I noticed something was wrong with my cat and called to describe the unusual symptoms and the lady answering the phones was extremely unhelpful. She didn't suggest or offer even speaking with the vet and even discouraged it after I asked for it. She told me the vet wouldn't be able to know what was going on but said if I saw the symptoms again to bring in a video. Maybe I'm naive but I'm use to getting better care than that from other animal clinics and have at least talked to vets on the phone with my concerns. Also, I think it is always better service for a trained professional to discredit my concerns rather than someone answering the phones. I wasn't expecting a conversation right then and there but perhaps a call back regarding my concerns given I'd established care for my cat already. Guess it is time to find a new vet, which I told the woman on the phone and she agreed. I am thinking it is probably an ok place to take your animal if you need a shot or something concrete otherwise look around for some place else.
At one time I had 3 Bernese mountain dogs and Dr. Hunt has done an outstanding job of helping care for all of them. From regular checkups, to occasional ear infections, he has kept my dogs healthy. Sadly, in one single year I lost two dogs to cancer. Homestead was caring and compassionate during one of the most difficult times in life. I HIGHLY recommend them.
I have only been in to see Dr. Hunt twice now. He has taken care of both of my dogs one is full grown and a former E-lister who does not care for men. Which Dr. Hunt was very good with her knowing how scared she was and treated her well. Then I took our new rescue of 4 months to see him and he went out of his way to save me money and treat my sweet pup at the same time. Again he was awesome with her and went out of his way to inform me of what all my options were and gave her the best care. The entire staff was great and very helpful with answering questions and taking care of our wonderful pups. Love this place so far, never waited for more then a couple min. and my animals are well cared for.
My first visit to Dr. Hunt’s office yesterday convinced me that he is the best Veterinarian I’ve ever had, and I’ve had many vets, and many dogs in my 34 years of pet ownership. That one visit yesterday has prompted me to change vets and make Homestead Animal Clinic my new choice for caring for my pets. The clinic was clean and professionally run. Dr. Hunt’s staff reflects his value of running a caring and empathetic service to pet owners. The fees are reasonable and competitive. Dr. Hunt is a knowledgeable competent vet. But the thing that really sets him apart from other vets I’ve experienced, is his way of coming alongside the pet owner, in a difficult and emotional time, and equipping them with the information needed for the pet owner to make the often difficult decisions about the treatment they choose for their pet. This was my experience yesterday: My wife’s Chihuahua needed immediate attention due to an unexpected severe injury causing paralysis. I called my vet and explained the situation and they said they were booked. They told me to go to an emergency clinic, which was far away and very expensive. I went online and found Homestead Animal Clinic. The reviews looked positive (except for one review that turned out to be completely off base from the experience I had yesterday). I called the clinic, AS A NEW PATIENT no less, and they said they were double booked all day and the doctor was in a long surgery, however, given my situation, I could come in and they would try to fit me in as soon as possible. They did manage to get me in in a timely manner, and the doctor spent time with me and later with my wife, helping us to make an informed and very difficult decision about our little dog. Thank you to Dr. Hunt and the Homestead staff for your excellent service to your newest clients yesterday. We’ll be sending you the records of our other dog and be in to get her shots soon.
