My dog had cysts on her paws. The first thing the vet said was they would need to cut half her foot off to remove the cysts. When I said that was absolutely out, they wanted to take biopsies and send the results off to a lab for cancer testing. Since my dog was old, I also refused this. When it became clear that I wasn't going to pay for extensive treatment, the cysts were suddenly nothing to worry about and were benign. They drained them and she was fine. I think they aren't averse to running a few extra tests if you are willing to cough up the money. I didn't feel comfortable with them for pet care after that. I should specify that my dog was almost 13 years old and was not in pain from the cysts. ``` I was willing to give them another try as several years have passed since the above incident. I wanted one day of boarding. They were all very willing to board my dog till they found out about me being the one to give them the above review. They called me at home and said they wouldn't be able to take my dog because he needed a current bordetella vaccine and since there was only two weeks before he needed boarding, they couldn't possibly take him. The nasal vaccine takes only 4 days to build a solid immunity so this was clearly a weak excuse to refuse me service because of their bad behavior. They are permanently off my list of vets.
My dog had been seen several times by Dr. Amy Munion at Pet Haven and I am very satisfied with the great care she gives him. This past winter he developed a problem passing urine. He seemed to strain when he tried, and his stream became very thin. I call Pet Haven and they told me to bring him right in...I did, she examined him, took Xrays to confirm her suspicion..and indeed, he had a bladder full of stones. Dr. Munion performed the needed surgery right in her clinic, and he healed up beatifully afterwards. We now have him on a special diet she hopes will prevent another episode of bladder stones for him. She provided the best care I could have ever hoped for, and at a cost I was very pleased with. I sure am glad she is practising Veterinary Medicine in our area, and hope she stays around a long time. They get the Highest recomemdation from me and my little Nazz Dak.
