We took our dog here for a second opinion and found great, reasonable care, without an upcharge for every question or detail. He was not rough as some of the other people said he was. He was very straight forward and up front about everything which was great. Prices were VERY reasonable and like I said there isn't an upcharge for every little thing. He recommends exactly what he thinks necessary and doesn't push unnecessary junk on you. We will most definitely be going back! *update* I just wanted to say that since I reviewed this over a year ago I've returned several times for various ailments of my three dogs. One dog had a corn and another had a benign tumor and I took them in at the same time - I opted to do the surgery to remove the tumor for one of my dogs after the vet removed the corn from the other. Not only did they do a good job but they also charged me a very reasonable rate for the surgery to remove the tumor and didn't charge me at all for the corn removal of the other dog. Just want to reiterate how much I love this place!
My dog was a white german shepard 13+. I realized his age, but I took him to the 24 emergency hospital. The surgeon did x ray and stomach surgery. His stomach was twisted. They subscribed three medications since he had a major surgery. Sucralfate 1 gm, tramadol 60 mg, and clavamox 376 mg. The emergency 24 hospital wanted me to do a follow up. Their location was 23 avenue and Glendale. But instead of going to them for a follow up from them, I went to Dr. Yochom, Southside animal hospital instead. The doctor looked at him and he decided he doesn't need any medication. He did give me a droplet for the dog's ears. My dog died the same day we saw Dr. Yochom. I regretted for the rest of my life. I wish I turn the clock back one more day before my dog died. I wish I could have gone to the 24 emergency hospital instead of the Southside animal hospital. I called Dr. Yochom about his death the next day. I told him that he was getting better with the medicine that he was taking for 10 days. He told me that I need to do a autopsy at the emergency hospital to concluded the cause of death. I was total shocked and unprepared for my dog's death. We got him in the year 2000. Animals cannot speak to tell us their health problems. If I was the doctor I would have asked many questions about his health and after the surgery. But instead he has many patients waiting to see him. It is a shame that animals are treated like animals. My dog could have live another two years. I realized how hard it is to make the wrong decision. When in doubt, get second opinion from the 24 emergency animal hospital. They give the best care. I don't know how long it would take to get over him. He died July 19, 2012. Lord help us all.
I have been taking my chihuahua to Dr. Y for 3 years now - he saved my dogs life when other vets were telling me to "put him down". Dr. Y is so caring, thorough, gentle, understanding - I would not take any animal I ever have or my family has to any other vet - ever. Five Stars - all the way!! The staff is very courteous and nice - hours are flexible and on SATURDAY, too. He is the best in the area - hands down!!
This dr said my 2 year old dog only had 2 months to live and wanted to put him down that day. But he lied. My dog is running and jumping. He is still alive. A am never going to that vet and I will always give a negative feedback if someone asked me about that place.
I believe this doctor is just here to rip people off !!! He gave my friend and me two different stories...my friend took in my baby to have him tested for parvo...the vet told her he was positive and was caught early enough to treat....what he didnt tell her was that there was blood in his stool...he prescribed some medication and she took him home...4 days later he still refused to eat and drink...i took in some of his stool to have tested for worms....he told me it was negative but told me that his stool had even more blood than before!! HE had the nerve to tell me that he never diagnosed my baby with parvo but yet he sold me medication....then he said he might have a stomache ulcer and gave me more medication to give him....i told the vet about how that morning his stool would seem to spill out by itself without him having to go potty...the vet told me there was nothing to worry about that it was normal because he was sick...he gave me more medication and i went home without thinking twice...i gave him his medicine that night....when i woke up around 1 in the morning, i found my baby lifeless!!! This vet told me not to worry about anything...he lied...i should of gotten a second opinion but i trusted him with my babies life...and now hes gone... :o( ......im never going to be able to hold my baby again...so please if you love your pets...please please dont take him to see this vet....
