Went in as a walk in on a Sunday. I was told there may be a wait but I was seen within 15 minutes and out the door in under 30. This was my first visit there and pretty much met my expectations for a quick and dirty evaluation of the problem. I received antibiotics and cream on my way out the door and paid about $100 bucks for the visit and two prescriptions. The staff was nice, maybe a little pushy about shots, etc.....but I can understand as its likely they see a lot of sick animals that they wouldn't have to if pets received their shots like they should. All in all a very good experience and you can't beat that they will take walk ins on the weekends.

This was my first time bringing a pet to Banfield and it will be my last. We brought in our cat who has been losing weight in recent weeks. I arrived on time for my appointment and the vet tech saw us soon, which was good. She told me the vet would be in in just a minute. After waiting for 40 minutes, the tech returned and told me that the vet was too busy with an emergency to see me but that she recommended some lab work. The tech then told me that the cost for the lab work was $200. I was surprised that I was expected to pay that much as the vet had NEVER even seen my cat. She reiterated that the vet was too busy and that was what I had to do. This was the worst service I've ever received at a vet. I did not do the lab tests and will try another vet. Banfield seems much more concerned with their wellness plans and running expensive tests than for the health of your pet. If you are looking for a good vet, look elsewhere.

My dog is on their wellness plan and I took her in for what looked like a wart in her mouth. The vet informed me it was a wart and that some times they go away on their own. I was concerned that it was affecting her eating cause she wasn't eating all her food. The vet looked at me and said that she was now a year and a half she she was no longer eating like a puppy. He said that as long as she didn't drop weight that she was fine. I love that they didn't recommond lots of expensive tests.

I took my cat in this morning due to some puncture wounds on her leg from another (unknown) animal. I didn't want to take the time to drive to my regular vet in Mesa that I have used for the past 11 years. They got me in right away--which is a big plus. The whole appt was very lengthy. They determined that my cat had been in a cat fight and recommended injections, a sedative, and take-home pain killers and antibiotics. I was having trouble trying to get her previous medical records from another clinic (my friend had taken her to when she owned her), and discovered that her files were lost. I told the vet and tech at Banfield that I knew she had rec'd her vacinations, I was just going to try and locate them myself at home. I thought the bill was huge for the severity of the wound (punctures and a swollen leg) at $190. $40 of this was to check her for Parvo--before I've even had a chance to get her medical records, although I was on the phone with the other clinic while at their office, so they knew that I was confident she had rec'd her shots a few months ago. I felt like they went overboard with her treatment. I had a cat that I took into my regular vet years ago after a cat fight and they cleaned up the wound and sent me home with anitbiotics--no fuss or drama. I went ahead with everything vs taking her to another vet. They asked me to leave her there for several hours so they could give her the medication and see how she responded. I had left their parking lot and drove to Dunkin D for bfast and they called that she was ready to go (about 20 minutes after I had left), so I turned right back around to pick up my kitty. Total time of vet appt 2 1/2 hours. Yikes. I may as well have driven to my vet in Mesa, as it didn't save me any time, nor any money. Positives: I know my kitty will be fine, as they gave her every treatment possible. The staff was also very friendly, loving to my cat and knowledgeable. Cons: Went overboard, costly, and too time consuming.

this is the first time i have EVER wrote my opinion about disatification about a business (Banfield, not Petsmart, that is). I have three dogs, and currently my puppy is on their puppy plan, and i recently brought in my other dog that just turned 1 year for her shot for rabies/bordetella. Just a few days ago, my PUPPY starting loosing a few teeth (i guess this is typical before getting their adult teeth), and one of her teeth started to grow in before the baby tooth had fallen out. The vet informed me that this baby tooth HAD to come out (and by his expert opinion it doesnt seem like it will come out on its own), otherwise my puppy is ging to have tooth decay, plaque, and basically sounded to me the worse thing ever. The quote of this proceedure was about 500 dollars (anathesia, blood work, medication after the operation). I decided not to do it, and what do you know, a few days later the tooth came out naturally on its own!!! Then i brought in my other dog that is about a year, to get her updated shots. They started asking me a few questions about her health, and i just mentioned that the other day my dog did not seem as "hungry/eager" to eat when i fed her the day before, but otherwise she(my dog) is normal. And i did informed the vet she did eat ALL her food, but she was just a little different the other day. Well i get a call (they call prior to doing anything further with your dog, thank god!) and the vet informs me that visibly my dog seems fine, but she recommends that we get blood work done, and get my dog on some meds, which she quoted me at about 400 dollars. And i once again i refuse to go ahead and do it, because mydog seemed fine to me. Well apparently since my dog "might" be sick, the vet said well we would need to get ATLEAST the blood work done prior to giving her shots. So my dog did not get her shots done that day. So then i took the initiative to call 6 other vets offices, and asked "is it typical for a vet to REQUIRE blood work to be done, if the dog seems perfectly healthy, befor getting a dogs rabies/bordtella shots?" Every vet i spoke with (i asked to speak to the vet or the vet tech if he or she was available) and they basically smirked and said "absolutely NO!" So just over the last week, i feel that Banfield pets hospital has attempted to scam me out of appox. 900 dollars. I'm just giving anyone a heads up if they bring their pet into this pets hospital. I will not bring my dogs here in the future, and as far as my puppy plan i am willing to drive further to take my puppy to a different Banfield (I use to live in Tempe, and that one is GREAT!!!)
