I have been taking my dogs to Dr. Edwards for 20 years and she is the best vet in Tucson. She has given my dogs excellent care from the time they were puppies. I recommend her clinic to anyone with a pet.
I have been going to Dr Edwards for 13 years. She has treated my guinea pigs, to my daughter's cat to our dogs. I have always enjoyed coming to the clinic with my animals. She is very knowledgeable. HOWEVER, It seems like in the past year, she seems unhappy with her practice. At one point, she has accused us of over feeding our elderly dog, but only to find out she has a thyroid problem. We also have 2 other dogs that are active, thin, and happy. She has belittled us in the office. My elder dog is suppose to be on thyroid medication yet she is not calling us back to pick up her medication. My husband and I have jointly agreed to seek out a more competent vet to treat our animals. It is such a shame that Dr. Edwards has gotten so mean towards her pet parents that she chooses not to care for her pet patients. Being a 4-H leader, I will no longer recommend Dr Edwards to ANY of my 4-H kids.
I had been going to Dr. Edwards for over 20 years and she had always been very good until my most recent appointment a few days ago. I took my 20 year old cat in for a second follow up after a recent surgery. She had still not healed and was in pain and wasn't eating well. I was met with an accusatory tone from Dr. Edwards right from the start and the communication just got worse from there. At one point I actually had to say "I respect you as a professional but please don't talk to me like that. I wont have it!." The visit ended shortly after that with her leaving the exam room and never saying another word to me before I left. I'm not sure what is going on with her but I will NOT go back to her again nor will I be recommending her services anymore.
Dr Edwards would've killed my cat or given him unnecessary surgery compromising his colon for the rest of his life if I hadn't sought another opinion. Not only that, she's beyond rude, the clinic had dogs running around urinating in the hallway or wherever they want. The power surged off twice. .. But over all... the sheer lack of veterinary skills to tell me by squeezing the cat he had cancer. . and go over cremation options. He was just constipated and is currently asleep on my legs. Do your research. . she's on PROBATION for a reason. She has been in trouble with the vet board throughout her career. She has a complete lack of professionalism while mocking customers in the lobby. Her"skills" are going to cost someone their family. I thank God I decided i had a bad feeling and took him from her care. That's why he is alive.. Because of keeping her away.
We used to live downtown Tucson and Dr. Edwards was enthousiastically recommended to us by animal lover friends. It was abunadantly obvious from the very first visit that Dr. Edwards' love for animals is deep and her dedication to their welfare a true calling. We have since moved to Rancho Sahuarita (about a 40 minute drive) and we never for a minute considered changing Vets. When you know your pets will get the best care with amazing compassion, you'd happily drive for 2 hours. Dr. Edwards' connection with the animals is something to be witnessed to be believed. If you think you saw the "dog whisperer" on TV, just pay a visit to the Arizona small animal clinic. About 14 years ago, our cat was mangled in the neighbor's swamp cooler and broke his hip, tail and various other places. Dr. Edwards took him in, performed surgery on him and kept him at her house until he recouperated. We were very happy with the service but vervous as to how much such amazing care would cost. When we got the bill we were blown away! We initially thought there was a Zero missing. Any conveyor-belt type animal care would have charged us a bundle, but it seems that Dr. Edwards barely covered her costs. 14 years later, the cat is still alive and kicking and Dr. Edwards remembers every single detail that I even forgot.
