This vet has been nothing but awesome to my two cats. Twice Ive had life threatening issues with my Siamese and Ive been fit in. Both times they worked with me on payment plans and the Vet has been amazing at calling me back about my concerns even after the fact. The Vet has even made recommendations about over the counter remedies to ease my pocketbook, but still help my kitties. The staff are always perky and always have my kittys food in stock.
By far, the best vet in town for cats. Dr. Keyes is very knowledgeable, the staff is excellent, and they really care about your cats. Prices aren't cheap, but they are well in line with what other vet clinics charge. I've gone to Cat Hospital of Tucson for many years, and have always had great care for my cats.
Dr. Keyes and the technicians here are very nice and Dr. Keyes makes a point to explain things to you. This place will cost you an arm and a leg though. A routine visit fee is $50 alone, procedures are even more expensive, and medication is ridiculous. I moved to Tucson from one of the most expensive cities in the country, but I have never had a vet charge me such exorbitant prices. For a while I paid the prices, hoping that they were just reflective of quality, specialized care. Then I had to get my cat an antibiotic. Amoxicillin is one of the cheapest medications available, but they charged me almost $50 for 10 day supply. This is a medication I've paid $10-$15 for routinely in the past. The emergency veterinarian doesn't even charge that much for more advanced, stronger antibiotics. Yet at CHT, For a simple infection, I spent over $300. There is a point when the prices become exploitive rather than reflective of the care your pet receives, and The Cat Hospital of Tucson has reached that point. I actually had to hold my own cat for her exams... for $50 per visit? There is nothing wrong with the doctors of the techs or the staff.... but there is nothing so great about the care or service that would make me want to spend so much money over such a simple issue again. After this last episode, I decided to stop letting CHT pick my pocket and got a new vet.
Since 2002, Dr. Keyes has treated my cats. I have never had a problem with her or her staff. She is an excellent diagnostician; diagnosed one of my cats with oral cancer when another eastside vet diagnosed an oral infection which resulted in expensive medications and prolonged suffering. I will continue to use Dr. Keyes as my Vet. And I live in Green Valley, Arizona (over 30 miles away).
