Our little dog got a mouthful of cactus spines (cholla, very sharp with tiny barbs) one Saturday evening. She was in agony. We rushed her to this clinic, the nearest to our home. They treated her immediately. She had to be sedated so the spines could be removed from her mouth and tongue with tweezers; it took an hour or so. They did not miss a single bit. They provided medications for inflammation and to prevent infection. Considering the circumstances and number of spines, we felt the bill was quite reasonable. The next day they called to find out how she was doing. We were happy to tell them that she was completely recovered, with no aftereffects of her ordeal. We were completely satisfied with our dog's care.
My baby was involved in a witnessed dog attack. He is a 16 month old cockapoo and is very much an esteemed member of the family. His name is MoBear and he has a medical file I take everywhere that has all his up to date shots and his medical insurance. My friend was watching him and he ran out of the house and another dog got a hold of his ear and had to be jaw massaged to let Bear go. I got off work and took himj to this place and they took Bear to the back and then the vet came in. She stated Bear had a "foul smalling lesion on his right jaw that had been there for a while, probably caused by scratching". I was totally appalled!! Number one - Bear NEVER scratches, and Secondly, what part of he was bit by another dog don't you understand. Bear is very gentle natured and very obedient. They soup up some bill for over $500 and state he needs to be put to sleep so they can clip his hair and then need $175 to do cytology on the lesion!! I told them to bring me my baby and show me this "lesion" he supposedly has a "for a while". They bring Bear in and I hold him and look behind his right ear and there are 2 deep LACERATIONS and inside his ear are a few scratches and a lot of dried blood. Did I mention that I am an ER nurse for 20 years and KNOW the difference between a "foul-smelling lesion" and a laceration??? DO NOT bring your loved one here. Take them to BriarCrest...they are totally wonderful and Bear was very happy and amazingly enough, the area around the 2 lacerations was clipped and my baby did NOT have to be "put to sleep".
