We have taken our 3 pets to Dr. Lax and his staff for over 15 years now. They are the BEST in North County - without a doubt. We recommend them to all of our families and friends and will continue to do so. They are courteous, respectful and love animals. With their new state of the art facility in Bressi Ranch they can do some amazing procedures. We also like that they are open 7 days a week (especially with an old lab that needs lots of care). Assisting staff is attentive and loving.
They care a lot about your pet and are experts on allergy issues. Once you've been there, they treat your pet like one of the family. Our dog has been going there for 10 years and he's been through many issues (hit by car, skin allergy, skin bumps, arthritis) and they know him so well and they always treat him with the greatest care. They are also always available which is important when something happens.
The Vets are good, particularly Dr. Lax, but the office staff are NOT well trained at all. We had two situations with them and the 2nd resulted in the death of our 6 year old lab. Both times, the office staff did not recommend that we bring our dog in. On the 2nd occasion, our lab ate 2 lbs. of chocolate and died on Christmas Eve. We called at 10:30am that morning and, of course, they were closing at 1:30pm for the holiday. (we suspect they did not want to deal with it as they were closing soon) They did not have us bring her in to pump her stomach, but only said to watch her and boil some chicken and rice. They also did not tell us to keep her activity low, which was the thing that killed her. My husband took her for a run and she collapsed on the first throw of the frisbee and went into cardiac arrest. They only offered up an apology and did not offer to pay the $400 emergency vet bill. Now our precious family dog is gone. We have since switched to another vet and will NEVER recommend Bressi. It is too bad because the doctors are not the problem!!
i recently took my dog in for the first time to be seen at bressi ranch vets which i was not looking forward to because my dog is so nervous and scared. the office is laid out so there is a lot of room in the waiting area so each animal has a lot of space, and the front desk staff is very helpful and attentive. when i went back to see the vet, she saw how nervous my dog was and sat on the floor with her and just talked with me so my dog could sense her energy. i thought the doctor was very thorough and knowledgeable and gave me advice that i was never given before to help with her problems. the vet was fair and recommended only what was neccesary. this is the first time i left a vets office not feeling like i was ripped off and had a great experience for me and my dog. i think both of us will look forward to our next visit.
