Dr. McDowell and staff are the kindest, most professional, courteous, caring group. Please do not believe any negative complaints about this facility or its staff. They have cared for all my animals for close to 17 years and have ALWAYS been considerate and kind. Any negativity published about this facility or its staff, consider the source. Would probably find the complainers the kind of people you would never want to meet or ever be friends with. The staff is probably privately relieved that those disagreeable people will never darken their door again. Think about THAT.

Chaparral Animal Hospital, Claremont CA!$%*&#? After investigating we are filing an official complaint again Dr. McDowell of Chaparral Animal Hospital. It was bad practice to administer to a small dog (yorkie) with history of seizures and chronic cough "3" vaccines with Rabies.. We believed Rocky's congestive heart failure finally became his demise as a result of a reaction to all the vaccines administered at once. Dr McDowell trusts the lives of her animal patients to inexperienced young people in her office,, she never bothered to look at Rocky, nor do I believe she knew what her staff gave him or if they were the correct doses. Rocky died Sunday July 13th, as a result of Chaparral's recklessness and neglect. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOU ANIMALS TO CHAPARRAL ANIMAL

My dog is not an angel he doesnt like dogs ....everytime he goes to chaparral everyone is very nice and helpful and they make sure that the waiting room is clear I love how the doctor calms him down first she gets his trust by touchin him and then he easily falls for it and let's her check him....I come all the way from alhambra and let me tell u I would never go anywhere else ....me and my husband always reccomend it to all our friends and fam..

We went in because our golden retriever swallowed a foxtail, and our golden is no angel, and is very vocal and loves to talk, he also growls but they acted like they had never seen a dog growl before, and commented how uncharacteristic it was for a golden retriever to growl, and everyone of the staff looked down their noses at us, and the head nurse came in yelling your not going to let that dog hurt my technician are you? They were all lined up against the wall like we had the plague when we went in, and I swear they were afraid of a golden retriever and cinched the muzzle too tight. The doctor asked me to open his mouth and she stood back 2 ft and there is no way she could tell if anything was in there she never even looked she couldn't have. They charged us $120 and said we'll give him a shot and he gave the shot as hard as he could, they were complete twits.. They checked every one of our twenties as if we were counterfeiters. They are the ones that need to go to behavioral classes, we will never ever go there again if they were the last vet on earth. We have never ever been so poorly treated Every dog is different and before they judge with their snobbish attitudes they need to come out from behind there beetie little eyes.

A family friend suggested this vet, and sure enough she was great! She is excellent with small animals, and my family friend found her to be good with dogs. She correctly diagnosed my hamsters heart condition and told me what to look out for, which other vets have been confused and unhelpful about. Just got a puppy and plan to take her here!
