I must first say the people there are all great and very professional. I believe they truly care and do their very best for the animals. I was referred to this place from my vet who said my cat should stay there for a night or two and had no idea my cat was in such bad condition until they looked at him at the hospital. Before I left him there over night they gave me an estimate of $3,000 to $4,000 and had me authorize $3,000 on my card. I had just spent $800 at the vet. I love my cat and really wanted him well, but couldn't afford that kind of expense. Since I was in shock and not in a rational mind I authorized the charge. Then after that they had me meet with a doctor who had done more tests and she said the cost could run higher, as much as $12,000 for the multiple surgeries he would probably require. At no time did they ever talk about the quality of life my cat would have or the suffering he would have to endure. They didn't ask if I could handle the financial obligations, nor did they suggest I consider putting him to sleep to put him out of his suffering. They called in the middle of the night to say he was not doing well and I imagine the poor kitty had to be in immense suffering, not too mention I was having one of the worst nights of my life. Again, all the vets I talked to were very nice and doing everything they could for my cat, but by the next morning I finally brought up the idea with one of the vets of putting him out of his suffering and she agreed it was the best option. Of course I broke down crying and could hardly talk to them at that point and they were very supportive and were great with me. Now I have to hustle to pay off the credit card for all these charges and hope it doesn't mean there are no presents under the tree this Christmas for my daughter or no summer vacation for her next year. So if your pet is in critical condition, my suggestion is to first ask what will the quality of you pet's life be if they do recover and what is it going to cost. Then weigh the options. If I could do it over again I probably would have had him put to sleep much earlier, as hard as that is to do, as my belief is he is at total peace where he is now! Certainly putting your pet to sleep is the toughest thing to do, but a friend of mine who is a veterinarian said it is the most humane thing to do when a pet is in a state of suffering that is only going to get worse.
Theres not much I need to say. This is the best place to take your pet. They care about your pets well-being as much as you do and they are very clean, respectful and helpfull. They saved my baby girl Annie
This hospital is more worry about the money and not for your pet they first make you sign a bunch of paper while your pet is in critical circuntances thats what happen to me i took my dog there and they couldnt save him
Very disappointed that's I have to say.
We are surprised by the bad reviews- not that ACC are expensive, because there is no question that they are - but Dr. Rich Mills is pretty much the only vet in the whole Los Angeles area that we have ever met that we trust, and we have had the misfortune to meet dozens. He is a truly excellent, caring and deeply knowledgeable vet, and we feel it's worth the money to have him see our animals for everything. We have had incredibly bad luck with many vets in LA - all three of our dogs were killed prematurely by bad, negligent, over-zealous or incompetent vets, and he has never let us down - we believe without question that he would have saved them, but unfortunately in two instances, they only got into his care after the damage was done. Obviously every veterinary hospital has different quality vets, but Dr. Mills is the best. Dr Peter Erling is also very good.
