Dont go near this place! They will demand extra tests just to charge you more money, service is miserable and theywill waste your time and money!

Before doing business with Banfield please read this review. I hope after reading this review you can learn from my horrible mistake. I was foolish enough to purchase Banfields puppy plan for my 3 month Boston Terrier and to say my experience was horrible would be a understatement. Yes they do call after an appointment, yes their prices are comparable with others, however, Banfield will find any way possible to charge you for everything and anything. Banfield is businesses just like any other but in my experience I have never had to deal with a company that lacked both ethics and common sense. First off I am and paying banfield client. I am currently still paying for my one year puppy plan obligation. Since I have purchased this plan through Banfield I have taken my puppy to both the Escondido office and Encinitas office. I purchase this puppy plan from a member from the Escondido office and I was told that the plan itself covered preventative services. I thought it was a great idea since it covered all the puppy shots and spay for my puppy. Little did I know that the minute I walked in to their office I would be charged and bombarded with "up sells”. I felt like I was at a car dealership. I was charged for my puppy getting her nails clipped when they didn't cut my puppys nails, then they told me my puppy was "difficult" so they didn't give her the medicine they prescribed. They asked me to give my puppy her medicine, which surprised me because I paid $384 for this puppy plan and I expected them to do their job. The funny thing was this lady was telling me that my dog was crazy and she was unable to physically give my puppy her medicine. Keep in mind my puppy was 3 months old at the time, and in front of her and the lady behind the counter I put the medicine in my puppies mouth and she didn't even flinch. This was only the beginning of the problems I faced while dealing with Banfield. Again, I purchased the puppy care plan to cover preventative expenses. Part of their preventative puppy care plan covered standard puppy shots. When I sent my dog in for her first shots I was immediately told that my dog breed is very sensitive to standard puppy shots and they had to give her a PREVENTATIVE shot to PREVENT any allergic reaction to her shots. These PREVENTATIVE shots were not covered in the PREVENTATIVE puppy care plan. I had to pay an additional $20 per session of shots. I also had to take my puppy in for a patch she had on her back. I paid for her fungal scrape and for other test and I was given medicine to treat my puppies patch. I don’t mind paying extra for this service however I was given a prescription for some medicine that was causing my dog to throw up. I called Banfield and I was told that this medicine was too strong for my dogs sensitive stomach and that my dog breed is sensitive to most medication. Fantastic, I asked why they didn’t prescribe medication that was easier on my dogs stomach and they replied “yes we have another prescription for my dog however it’ll cost $80…” I had to pay $20 for a preventative shot because Banfield said I need to, yet they did not have the foresight to think that they should have prescribed medication that was easier on my dogs stomach. Please make sure to think twice before purchasing any services from Banfield, my wallet and myself wish we had.
