First time needing to go to veterinarian hospital to get my dog spayed. I set up the appointment for a week in advanced. When I went to drop off my dog the staff was very friendly and welcoming and seemed very knowledgeable for the questions I had. The following day I picked her up and the gentleman at the front informed me that there were some added costs due to her being in heat. He explained the procedure for the operation and was able to answer all the questions I had regarding the operation and costs break out. I would definitely recommend this vet hospital to a friend! Very friendly and I felt like my dog was in good hands.
I had been taking my 2 German Shepherds to this vet for about 2 yrs. I started to notice once I got my 2nd puppy that they charged a lot for individual doses and packs of heartgard and frontline. They advertised themselves as a discount clinic and they may be on office visits, but they make it up for what they charge in other services and the meds they prescribe. I had enough of them when I took my 10 year old shepherd in because her limp had gotten worse. I already knew she had elbow dysplasia.. They still took 2 xrays for $186 and then went on to prescribe the most expensive anti-inflammatory meds. I told them I couldn't afford $8 a pill, but they didn't seem to care. After doing some research and talking to the Germans Shep org I discovered there are many generic drugs that work just as well. I went to another vet, got a prescription and bought a 2 month supply for $25. My shepherd is doing great now, no thanks to them. This clinic is out to make money and does not care anything about your pets is my experience. There are many better choices out there.
The last time I wrote a review on this Vet, it was lengthy because I had a lot to say. While I have pretty much vented my frustration and disappointment, I still feel that those of you who are thinking about using this clinic should be warned. I had a very clinical, money oriented experience. I have been used to vets who demonstrate empathy and compassion. Neither human element was experienced here. After my encounter, I learned that two of my co-workers had similar experiences. I have learned (a little too late) that Blue Ravine Veterinary, El Dorado Hills Veterinary, and Lake Forest Veterinary are a few of the vets of choice for those of us who treat our pets as family members.
I went to Folsom Vet Hospital and I had the greatest experience there. I went to Blue Ravine and they treated me and my dog terrible. Green Valley and El Dorado were Just as bad. Go to FVH. They have the best staff and they also do boarding, (their kennels are sparkling clean!)
We have taken all of our animals here for their shots and/of medical needs...very helpful either in house or over the phone...my feeling they are the best in Folsom and the best priced!
