Still highly recommend after 2 years of taking our ratties here--Doc and her crew are some of the best animal care experts I've ever encountered. These guys really know their stuff, and I learned so much from just one visit. We were relatively new to California in 2012, and after dealing with exotic vets and regular vets in NY and TN, the vast knowledge and obvious expertise this place has is a Fresno treasure. Since CA doesn't allow ferrets, and after wanting some pets again after waiting so long (we were just too transient and busy before moving here in August), I thought that we did a good job choosing two little ratties from a nearby pet store back in November. Despite all of the know-how I got online and all the previous experience I had growing up with dogs, cats, gerbils, birds, fish, and ferrets, just one 30 minute visit here made me realize the HUGE mistake I made in not going here sooner--my little rats have mites all over them! This was the last thing I expected out of the several factors I thought to be causing one to excessively itch his chin--I thought ringworm or some allergen must have been the culprit. But, no, they have mites, and Dr. Hill quickly got me up to speed with all of the problems she's seen with rats from pet stores. While I'm not sure whether or not they've always had mites, I do know that from now on, I'm taking my little critters to Dr. Hill so they keep healthy. Great place, and I highly recommend it.
I never write reviews but for this occasion I went threw the rigormoreau of creating a Google profile so that I could write my first review. That being said... If I could have given 10 stars to the doctor I would in a heart beat. My little Chihuahua is my only child since I have no biological children of my own. I took her in with a large abscess. Turned out it was a rather large infection that had grown into most of her teeth and into her jaw bone. It resulted in several extractions and a long regimen of antibiotics. My small 3lb dog is fragile. any small misstep can potentially be life threatening. The doctor completed the surgery very quickly and with ease. I have lived in Fresno my whole life. One thing I know is that there a plethora of money hungry quack veterinarians in this town. This doctor is BEYOND KNOWLEDGEABLE, loving, organized, & 100% worth the out of pocket money. Remember back in the day when doctors where educated, caring, knowledgeable, idolized and trustworthy. This doctor is the last stitch left from the good old days.
I was reffered to Dr. Hill by another vet who was out of town and when I took my bird to Dr. Hill the difference in care was night and day! The other vet in Visalia told me there was nothing she could do for my bird's dry scaly, cracked and bleeding leg. Dr. Hill immediately treated my bird's foot sent me home with foot cream and a better diet. I am forever grateful that the other vet was out of town and I met Dr. Hill. I never went back to Visalia and my bird's permanent vet is Dr. Hill. The ongoing care he has received has been amazing. Very often when I call I am able to speak to the Dr. herself at no extra charge and the staff always calls to follow up. My questions are usually answered in a day. There is no other Avian vet I trust with my bird.
To start off I am a local veterinarian that has worked closely with Dr. Hill for several years. I happened to log on to the internet from home this evening to look up Dr. Hill's phone number to give to a friend. It never ceases to amaze me how wrong people can be and how far off their perceptions can be out of whack. Unfortunately these online ratings/reviews have become a form of internet slander for the folks that aren't brave enough to say anything in person (usually because they know they are wrong or are fabricating information). The two reviews here immediately prior to mine have missed the mark by a mile. One is from a disgruntled employee that no doubt had a very hard time meeting Dr. Hill's high standards and expectations. Dr. Hill works very hard to stay current, provide the very best care and exceed her clients expectations. No doubt that puts pressure on staff...especially the ones looking to 'coast' through the day. I can tell you as a local veterinarian I have never hired anyone that has quit or been let go from Dr. Hill's office. Because if they aren't going to cut it working for her they sure as heck are the ones I want taking care of my patients and their families. As far as the other comment about a client overhearing yelling. No doubt that was a voice raised to be heard over the loud sounds in her patient treatment area. You see, Dr. Hill has numerous incubators and avian ICU units that house her very fragile exotic patients. Those can be very noisy when they are running. At times if the patient is stable enough we will turn them off just long enough to auscult a pet for a heart murmur or finish a phone call with a client because they are very difficult to be heard over. I can't imagine Dr. Hill being verbally abusive or truly yelling at staff, but I do see how it could be misconstrued. As far as her being physically abusive this is obviously sour grapes from a disgruntled employee and I would encourage Dr. Hill to pursue this as slander. If there was truly any physical abuse I guarantee you this person would have turned Dr. Hill in to capitalize on the situation. Dr. Hill is by far one of the best clinicians in town and is the most thorough and detail oriented veterinarians in our town. We are very fortunate to have Dr. Hill here especially for the sake of the exotic pets. It's too bad people don't use their powers for good instead of berrating nice hardworking folks like Dr. Hill. Enough said...
I was so amazed how dr. hill was with our little jake, but our awe was quickly replaced by confusion when we heard the good dr yelling quite audibly at one of her nurses. we thoroughly enjoyed her medical expertise, but that one rather large flaw has led us to another practice.
