After a recent serious accident with our dog, we took him to the VCA Valley Animal Medical Center Emergency Hospital. As far as we are concerned, this place saved the life of our dog. The surgeon, Dr. Trousdale was incredible, caring and considerate; the staff amazing. Kudos to Seth, Ashley and Jonathan to name a few. While our dog is still recovering and the long term rehab uncertain -we are so incredibly grateful - words can not describe their love and attention for our pet Rufus. 5 stars.
Although grateful that this VCA clinic is open 24 hrs., I must say that it is quick to make sure you purchase everything. Yes, I love my dogs; however, diagnosis by the emergency vet does not align with what my primary vet states. It’s like saying my VCA vet is misleading me. Two stories not good, and leveraging your weakness at the same time. My advice. Don’t buy medications from the emergency after hours clinic unless your animal would DIE like today without taking it. Your primary vet knows your animal’s health best. In other words, use more common sense than I because you will not be able to return that expensive drug once you discover it’s not necessary. That sucks due to CA law. The staff is friendly, but I can sense a cutting too. It’s an interesting dichotomy to say the least.
This is a terrible place for any pet owner. Please stay away as YOUR PET COULD DIE as a result of their negligence and incompetence. On Monday evening, I took in my pug of 7 years old due to him swelling up from his rear, complications when attempting to go potty and infection around that area. He was fine on Sunday, so I knew right away this was an emergency situation. I could not get same day appointments with our regular vet or other vet clinics in the valley. I scheduled appointments for Tuesday but decided to visit this 24 hour pet hospital since it was clearly an emergency situation. They told me he was overheated and the swelling would go down over time. They charge me $165 for the visit and told me we could go home. The next morning, he did not look any better and the swelling became worse. I had my first scheduled appointment on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. The new place I took him to, told me that he had an enlarge prostate and had become infected. His bladder was full of urine and was about to explode. He could have died if I waited more time to take to a vet. He needed an emergency surgery to remove the fluid from his bladder and glands. He stayed overnight. The clinic called me today that they could not perform surgery on him and the best thing to go is put him down. His prostate became over inflamed due to the electrolytes injected by the VCA. He did not need any more liquids. This cause his prostate gland and abscesses to rupture. If he would received proper attention on Monday evening by VCA he possibly could have been saved. Now our family lost our beloved pet. I have to tell my five year old son his dog has to be put down. Please avoid this place at all costs.
I found staff to be competent, caring and professional. And the vet herself was nothing but compassionate as she worked with me to try to find a solution for my dog's Irritable Bowel Disease. Tests are expensive everywhere, and this vet is no exception; however, they were done quickly and results were immediate, giving me invaluable information that helped me make decisions. I did wind up having to put my beloved little companion to sleep after all the medications quit working, and I can tell you they were wonderful to me and to my dog. The vet had tears in her eyes and said good-bye with me as I held him and felt him slip away. A sad, inevitable part of life, made easier by people who really care.
Took my cat here and was very happy with the service the cleanliness of the office and rooms. They gave a good explanation as to the health problems of my cat. They also have boarding which I used. They took good care of her and also administered her medicine for me. I would recommend this Animal Medical Center to friends and family. Jeff S. La Quinta
