Horrible experience! I took my cat in to have him checked for a possible ear mite infection. The lab tech took him to a room where I was not allowed to accompany him. I heard horrible yowling and a loud screech. When he was finally brought out, I was told that some of the solution used to clean my cats ears got into his eye. They assured me, that he eye was flushed with saline and the irritation should resolve on its own. The next morning, not only was his eye still irritated, his pupil was constricted. When I called to speak to the tech to get more info about what could have caused this, he was clueless (probably covering for head trauma that he was responsible for). He suggested that I bring my cat back in. Now way! Not to this place which can't even handle a simple ear cleaning without injuring the most sweet natured cat ever! $275 dollars later, I learn that they didn't even find any mites! I will be taking my cat elsewhere to have his eye evaluated. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way: do not ever let your pet out of your sight.

I brought in my guinea pig for extreme weight loss, lack of energy, and a decreased appetite. She also seemed to have something going in her mouth that seemed to be be affecting her ability to eat and a small lump on her rear end (which was brushed off as a cyst that would go away on its own). My piggy was seen by Dr. Ridgeway during my $65 office visit, who was not able to give me any answers, but prescribed Critical Care to feed her through a syringe and antibiotics for whatever unknown reason. He said her front teeth looked great and took her to the back to examine her molars, which I was told were also fine. Total cost....$111. It would have been more, but the X-ray machine was broken. I have been giving her antibiotics and feeding her as instructed and she has gained a minimal amount of weight and is still behaving the same. I call to check in and after sharing my concerns and I find out that Dr. Ridgeway noted in her file that her molars were a bit pointed, which I was never told. During another conversation, I found out that it is a specific molar., which I was never told. Now they want to charge me another $50 recheck fee because I am outside of the 1 week recheck window (which I was never told about), instead I was told to check back in a week or so to see if the X-ray machine was fixed) plus other fees for tests that may or may not reveal what is wrong with my piggy for a total of $415 on top of the $111 that I have already paid. His notes revealed other possible causes, none of which were shared with me either! I will never take any of my pets to Dr. Ridgeway again. Even if he knows what he is talking about, I should have been informed of every darn thing during the visit. And to be expected to pay another $50 to walk out of there clueless again..... NO THANKS. On the other hand, all of the other staff was very patient with me and understanding, but I will never return there. Worst experience at a veterinary office EVER!!!!! I will be talking my piggy elsewhere!

I began going to Long Beach Animal Hospital in 1962 when I bought my first Dachshund. Over the years I have had five Doxies which have all lived longer than average. I attribute this to the excellent medical care I received from LBAH. I now have two Lab/mixes who are twelve and almost eleven years old. They now have issues with old age but you would never know it to see them in action. The care they are getting is keeping them active and playful. I'm sure they too will live longer than the average for their breed. The staff at Long Beach Animal Hospital can't be beat. They're there for me when I need them.

Ive been coming to the Long Beach Animal Hospital since 2005. I've always known my dogs were in the best care when they are here. My oldest dog just had an emergency pyometra last fall and was given exceptional detail and attention to and is healthier and happier because of her treatment by the wonderful Dr's and staff! We've moved out of the community but still bring our animals back to Long Beach because of the personalized service.

I have been going to Long Beach Animal Hospital LONG before it was called what it is today. It used to be called Long Beach Dog and Cat Hospital, but they had two different entrances. One for dogs and cats and one for "critters". It's been 50 years now that I've been coming here! It first started with my lizards, horny toads, chameleons and birds when I was a kid (okay, I'm still a kid). Then it graduated to mice, rats, hamsters, guinea pigs and a few unmentionable pets. Then came the dogs and cats. I've moved slightly out of the area years ago and have tried other vets, but they just aren't the same. While the staff and most of the doctors have changed over the years, the relationships they maintain with their clients and their pets are the same. They're caring, informative, sensitive to the clients needs and those of their pets as well. I still have pets and I still come to LB Animal Hospital because this is where I started and this is where my pets and I call home.
