I moved to Magalia after retirement in January 2008. At that time I had one dog a Belgian Tervuren a little over one year old. I visited several Veterinarian offices to establish a connection for my girl. After much review I settled on Whispering Pines. I found them to be very accommodating in every way. In latter part of 2008 my girl developed an immune related problem that was very difficult to treat and it took over a year to have the problem resolved during which I spent $15000.00 for testing and drugs. Unfortunately I had no insurance at that time. During this period I had to go to San Diego and Dr. Weber referred me to a clinic in San Diego and their was communication between both clinics on. After 2 two months we returned to Magalia with all treatment documentation in hand so as to continue with treatment. Eventually the problem was resolved. In September we had another Belgian Tervuren, male join our family and he was insured immediately. I would recommend insurance for all animal owners as the various treatments available by veterinarians are complex and can be expensive. Insurance is not that expensive. I pay $300 a year for my one dog and it has more than paid for itself. As my first dog had the major medical problems she is uninsurable. I have on occasion had to visit the Whispering Pines without an appointment with a problem that needed attention NOW, this was never a problem. Most Veterinarian offices are good places for any dog with any problem but some are head and shoulders over most and Whispering Pines is in this category. The more you understand your dog or other animal the better you can communicate any problem to the vet. You are the voice your animal.
I took my dog in because she got shot in the eye with a pellet gun. When we first get in there I informed the receptionist that we could not afford that much due to we're living on a fixed income, and ask if payments could be made.and the answer to that was no ,then she said she'd let the vet know. As we're sitting there waiting to be seen, and one of the vet just got done with an appointment he proceded to go get his kid from the back and sat down and contuined to visit with the the family whos dog he'd just seen, and I'm sitting there with my dog who's in pain and need medical help asap, he contuined to visist with the other patient family for a least 15 to 30 mins. which at that time I got up and walk out never to return.
These people have no consideration for you or your pet. They put on a good show, but that's all it is. An act. I made an appointment for my parrot for the first thing in the morning. As I sat there for over an hour and the small waiting room filled with dogs my bird became more and more stressed. Finally someone takes my bird in the back. I wait another hour and someone approaches me and asks if I will come back in the afternoon. That's it, I'm gone. A year goes by and I make another appointment (explaining what happened the last visit) for 9;00 am, wanting to be first in and get the hell outa there. I have to wait two weeks but I feel it's worth it. The day before my appointment I get a call asking me to come in at 10;00am. Like I said, they just don't care how much they jerk you and your pet around.
