The Animal Wellness Center on Lincoln Blvd. in Marina del Rey has got a real problem. They leave your dogs in their yard at the back of their property, where these dogs bark... more or less all day. Sometimes as early as 7:30 am, sometimes as late as 10 pm. This yard butts up against a residential street. My street. The owner of the business, she has demonstrated that she does not care and will not take any effective action to get the barking under control. I have lived here for many, many years (almost 25!). I work from home. It's a loud street, but the traffic and music and machinery sounds all sort of blend in together, and don't generally continue for more than a few minutes of any singular sound. Even the dogs barking in the neighborhood once in a while. Their dog barking is a different story. Their barking is that of a pack of miserable, frightened dogs in a strange environment, left for long stretches of time, alone in a yard. The kind of barking that pierces windows and walls and basically never ends. It literally sounds like I live inside of an animal shelter. And so, my home is unlivable, and my work is more or less impossible to do while that barking is going on. Not to mention the frustration and stolen sleep from those early morning 7:30 am bark-a-thons which always seems to come after I've spent long night working. I have pursued every possible legal avenue I could think of to try and resolve the barking, from asking nicely to desperately begging, to reporting it to animal services, to becoming angry, to walking over in my pajamas in tears (last Christmas morning when I was woken up at 7:20 am by barking after being up all night cooking for my family), to calling the police. Nothing has changed the situation for more than a couple of weeks at a time. In fact, it feels like it's become worse overall, and now I have basically exhausted any leg to stand on that I had. So I am moving from my long-term home. I'm really sad about it. I will never forget how this business has treated their neighbors... but to take something positive from this experience... I will NEVER, no matter the circumstance, put a neighbor through something like she has done, ever in my life. So my appeal to the pet loving and helping community of the 310 area here on Yelp, I would like to humbly ask your support in boycotting the Animal Wellness Center. Just find a different veterinarian... one that treats their neighbors well, or at least doesn't make their lives hell... And also, let's all be a little nicer to our neighbors and make sure our dogs aren't barking their heads off all day :)
I have been to a few different veterinarians throughout L.A. over the years. Never had a "bad" experience but definitely never had anything to write abouT. Dr. Annie is the best! Her bedside manor is outstanding (she spent almost 45 mins with me and my recently adopted Shiba INU pupy). The cost... worth writing about!!! I have been back twice since, for various issues, and have always had a positive outcome. KUDOS to all of the staff at AWC!!
Dr. Annie's holistic approach to animal wellness is what makes Animal Wellness Centers a one of a kind place for animals and animal lovers. Kindness and a sincere interest in strengthening the relationship between you and your animal companion is the heart of what they do and it makes visiting Animal Wellness Centers a unique experience. I highly recommend Animal Wellness Centers and Dr. Annie’s personal practices to anyone with a strong love for their companion! I am looking forward to the great work they will do for the animal community.
I have been to AWC since I got to LA about six months ago and I have received nothing but the best care for my little one. I wouldn’t go to another vet the staff and doctors have been very caring give you all the time in the world to explain everything.
I brought my dog in for a check-up at the Animal Wellness Centers and had a wonderful experience. Dr. Annie was extremely patient, and you could tell that she loves animals and truly enjoys what she does. She uses a unique approach, combining modern technology and Chinese veterinary medicine. They also offer a variety of products and services such as behavior classes, dog walking, vitamins, shampoo etc. I recommend seeing Annie for all your pet needs if you want great care!
