from the wonderful office staff, to the assistants to the two most wonderful vets, this is the place for cats to feel well tended and cared for. the best care we have ever received and a boatload of kindness and caring all around plus many, many laughs.
I took my ailing cat Pudding here, while the folks are very kind here, unfortunately for my bank book their diagnosis was not accurate and I had to go else where. They did a physical exam, ran some very basic blood and urine tests ($300.00) and said they could see no serious problems. They offered many more tests I simply could not afford to do after that initial bill. But other than that they saw nothing serious in the blood tests. I got a second opinion just two weeks later, the second vet (Dr. Beth Farhart, whose vet bills are much more affordable!!!) immediately upon a physical exam the Dr. found a very large mass in her upper abdomen (PCH did not find, did it really grow that much in two weeks? Perhaps) and showed me from the blood tests from PCH (Petaluma Cat Hospital) that there were signs of a systemic issue that could be serious. Dr. Farhart showed me clearly on the printout of the blood tests from PCH that these issues were indicated in the blood tests that PCH had performed. I am not sure why the Dr.'s at PCH either overlooked or thought that these issues were not important. It turns out that it was a mass that had filled my cats lung nearly completely, and we had to release her from this world and send her off to the next one. R.I.P. my love. I know Dr.'s aren't psychics and can't possibly know everything that is going on inside our stoic little friends especially because cat's are such professionals when it comes to suffering in silence. I am sure they were doing their best. I really do not like to leave negative reviews for people who are doing their best but I felt I had to share my experience. I suppose this is a case of the 2nd opinion revealed important issues that were previously overlooked. It is probably just a fluke that Pudding's issues slipped through the cracks at this clinic since so many people love this place. Sincerely, Rebecca
My 18 year old cat stopped eating. I was scared it was time to put her down but her vital signs and blood work said otherwise. Dr. Mills went the extra mile and diagnosed her Kidney Infection where another local, larger emergency clinic missed the diagnosis. Dr. Hertzel diagnosed one of my other cats with allergies that he had experienced for years and was not diagnosed before. I trust this hospital implicitly and you should too.
Cat Hospital of Petaluma Deserves A Million Stars! Dr. Hertzel and Dr. Mills are great. Well, frankly, everyone who works there is great both with cats and with people. I have a cat with allergies. After about 6 different vets failing to impact his itching at all, Dr. Hertzel got it solved. Same cat has heart disease. Again, I am confident we have him on the right medications and he shows no signs and has been stable for nearly two years since the diagnosis. They are also kind and honest with me, and do what they can to keep costs down while still offering the patient cats the best care possible. Cat Hospital of Petaluma is the best care possible for cats and their humans.
