I think a two rating for a small parking issue is a bit ridiculous. We were sent to Dr. Goraya by the humane society as well as the vet service. He is an awesome vet. To top that off he is also a surgeon. We found it very enlightening when we learned that he did surgery for some vets in our area. Why not go directly to him. We did and because of it two of our cats are with us today. Our dog does not have to live with a trick knee that impaired him even to walk around the block. Dr. Goraya cares and he is very understanding as well. We live quite a ways from Pico Rivera but it is well worth the drive to know that our pets are in good hands. Also I agree that Dr Kim is an intelligent person who knows his stuff. As far as comments about price, the original reason we were sent to Pico Rivera was that the cost of vet care is so high in our area. Since then we have such confidence in him that we continue to drive and hour and a half to see him. Even when at times we could easily afford a local vet. I remember when we said where the heck is Pico RIvera. That is so far perhaps we should just stay local. Since then we have realized just how valuable such a competent vet is and the drive is a non issue. As far as comments about the office staff, nobody ever made a mistake on any of my pets medications and I really doubt they misquote people. It seems that some people do not understand that when a pet has minor surgery there is optional lab work, cardiac monitoring, IV and Cath lines and all that. Personally, I have been in the office and heard Cathy quote various surgeries and procedures and from what I have heard the quotes included everything. Unless this comment about the $20.00 is about medication needed after surgery. Personally with all the various costs of vet care and surgery, $20.00 is not going to bother me.

As with any person/place, there are always both good and bad qualities and events that take place. My little Shih Tzu, Daisy, had to go to PRAH twice due to jaw injury. The first time, the receptionist was on the phone incessantly while attempting to give me very important discharge instructions. As a result, she put the wrong dosage on her pain medicine instructions which could have resulted in an overdose. As I was at home preparing to give it to her, the dose did not make sense to me so I called them. Turned out the decimal was in the wrong place. Other than that, the surgery went very well. When the plate in her jaw slipped (no fault of the vet) 6 months later, Dr. Goraya did her surgery at no cost (except for the new plate and anesthesia). He also flushed her jaw with antibiotics for an hour - putting him behind for the rest of the day. When he held my little baby, I could tell that he genuinely cared about her. She was VERY nervous and shaking violently. After a moment of his gently holding her and speaking to her softly, she stopped shaking at all and was very responsive to the rest of the examination. After all the extra time he took in surgery, he still took MORE time to call me three times that day and told me that, if necessary, he would come in on his day off if I needed to come on that day. (We live a considerable distance from Pico Rivera). We, my dog and I, are very happy with PRAH - just be sure to get correct instructions and make them speak to you when they are not on the phone! Oh, and ask for Dr. Goraya!!!! Tell him Debbie and Daisy sent you!

This place is AWSOME it has been there for years ask for Dr. White he is so amazing he totally LOVES animals. The best person on the staff is Kathy. I have being taking my animals there for like 20 years now and will go no place else they really care about animals there

In reference to the posting below, i have taken my pet to pico rivera animal hospital, and all procedures and prices were clearly explained to me, the price of spay and also the optional procedures they offer, I found they were very professional and concerned w/ all their patients thats why they offer such pre-cautions for caring and concerned pet owners as myself. Although the parking can be a little difficult sometimes, I recommend if you go there and don't understand the procedures you can always ask questions their staff is always willing to explain PRIOR to procedures, and I know they had me sign a form for these procedures as I'm sure they have everyone else do the same. The surgery price is reasonable and all the other procedures are only done if the pet owner approves. I've been to other hospitals where the price of the surgery alone was outrageous! then to add other procedures. All in all my experience with this office is a positive and will continue to take my pet and future pets to a place that is more concerned about the pets health than money.
