I have been here many times with each of my three dogs. Each time staff has always been kind, confident, and understanding- whether I'm over reacting about something small, or there for an actual emergency. They are very affordable (comparable to normal vet clinic costs), and the vets spend the time to explain why they feel its important to do certain things. A couple times the hand off from one vet to another has resulted in a little confusion about what is going on, but this rarely happens. As a veterinary assistant I definitely look for certain things whenever I go to any vet clinic other than my own: animal handling, explanation of why they're recommending certain procedures or tests, and making sure I have an estimate before doing procedures, etc. I always 'play dumb' because I usually want things explained in detail to ensure my understanding of the situation, the treatment, and the possible outcomes. My most recent visit occurred because my shepherd mix, Maggie, probably had a seizure. I had recently noticed changes in her behavior and was concerned she might be in early renal failure or was developing diabetes. I appreciated the time the doctor spent with me to explain the test results and help me to understand what we were to expect in the future. His willingness to take that much time is greatly appreciated. Overall, this is a great emergency for after hours care.
The vet whisked my little pomeranian straight to the back and the oxygen chamber when she had congestive heart failure. Through their attentive care, she is still with us, on heart meds but acting like her old self. Thank you!!!
Let me start out by saying that this is the BEST vet I've taken any pet to in a very long time, and I had been going to my regular day vet for my entire life (33 yrs!!). I had taken my very much beloved sick kitty to my regular vet earlier in the day on Saturday, and they gave her a quick once over, pumped her with anti-nausea meds and sent me on my way with her. No tests, no xrays. She was lethargic, drooling excessively, clearly in distress and not eating or drinking. She had NEVER in 13 yrs ever stopped eating AND drinking when she was sick. After taking her home, she kept deteriorating throughout the day. I called my sister in law to pick me and her up, and we went to PAEC at about 10:45pm. Within a few minutes we were seen by the tech, and then shortly after that the vet. She did a Thorough exam of my kitty, and right away told me 1. she had an ulcer in mouth (not good), 2. She had a heart murmur (I'd taken my kitty to the vet 12 hrs earlier, and they didn't diagnose her murmur) and 3. she had a mass in her belly that really concerned the vet. They ordered Xrays ($135. not bad actually. I think I paid more than that for MY xrays with insurance..lol), and they came back showing her enlarged heart and intestinal cancer. I made the difficult (and still painful) decision to put her to sleep. They brought her back in with a gorgeous set of serenity beads around her neck, and let me hold her and love her. I left her at about 12:30am, before they euthanized her, as I was not capable of witnessing that, but my sister in law stayed with her until the end. She was so relaxed there that she was purring before she went to sleep. They were the most compassionate vet clinic I've ever been to, and I am thankful to the very core of my being that I took her there that night. I have since revoked my previously positive review for my regular vet, and will not be taking ANY of my future pets there ever again. 33 yrs of loyalty and a vet I'd never been to before had more compassion in 3 minutes than I received in years there. If you have an emergency situation with your pets, please do not hesitate to bring your pets here. The prices were fair for emergency service ($75 for the visit, $135 for the xrays, $90 for the euthanasia.) I had spent $112 earlier that day at my regular vet for basically NOTHING.
Our dog was there for 6 hours and we paid over a thousand dollars with these guys. They told us absolutely nothing besides she's sick and throwing up. ABSOLUTLY NO HELP.
The staff was very friendly and attentive to my friend and her dog. They were a little slow to get stuff done, but it did get rather busy after we came in. The Dr. was incredibly sweet and compassionate. She answered all the questions we had with a patience I don't normally see in other health care situations [animal or otherwise]. They caught a major issue right away and quite possibly saved her life with their quick thinking and were even sympathetic to financial problems. They use a "Care Card" if approved to charge the balance onto if needed. Definitely would recommend!
