One evening, my Black Lab suddenly experience stomach pains and became very distressed. I took her to the Atlantic Street Veterinary where she received a thorough examination by Dr. Amy Furtado. Fortunately it wasn't serious and the symptoms eventually went away with the help of anti-acids. Dr. Furtado was very professional and immediately established a great rapport with both my dog and myself. I’m deeply impressed with the concern and quality of care shown by both the clinic and Dr. Furtado.
I love the location, the triage and the services by this facility. The Doctors and actual pet care staff were respectfu, hard working and got our dog in immediately. As a registered nurse, I understand the dynamics of health care and felt that this hospital operated close to if not human standards. Some criticism I would have for this place would only be placed with the staff. Waiting in the ER was stressful enough after our dog was attacked by another dog. One of the vet techs came out and basically told our pets entire information out loud in front of everyone. Maybe some PHI/HIPPA could be enforced here (look it up). And one final critique was the receptionist who understandable, your job is a receptionist at a vet clinic, but you dont have to be a female dog to people who ask you questions. She gave us lack of eye contact, one word answers and when asked for explanations on what was going on with our pet, she was visibly annoyed and distant during the process. Highly condescending and just rude. We get it your a receptionist at a pet clinic; please do something with your life because you clearly don't like your job.
Very awesome bunch of people! Excellent care and follow up both with me and my local vet. I highly recommend them
Full disclaimer... I have only used this vet in the case of an emergency, not as a vet I regularly took my dog to. I came here with my dog around 8:00 in the morning after I woke up to her having a series of strokes or seizures in my backyard. My dog was over 14 years old, and as much as you try to brace yourself for the inevitable, you are never really ready for it. I knew my normal vets office was closed, and that this was a 24 hour center. I came in and asked for assistance getting my dog from my car, they ask me how much she weighed, and then hastily went out to help me. On the way back in the girl assisting me informed me of the visit fee ($137). It is a little more than my vets visits, but you are obviously paying for the fact that they are open 24 hours, and I don't mind. They asked a series of questions while they were treating my girl in the back, and when they came out the vet presented me with my options. Run a series of test and find possible treatments, or put my beautiful girl down. I felt no pressure either way. I said I wanted to call my mom, and they offered to let me use the phone if I didn't have mine. Ultimately I decided to put her down, one of the hardest choices I have ever had to make. They took me to a comfortable lounge towards the back with a sitting area and plenty of tissue. They brought in a big fluffy bed for Merry (my dog) to lay on. They explained that I could spend as much time as I needed with her, and to just call them when I was ready. The vet maid me feel very comfortable, she explained how everything worked, and reassured me that she would feel no pain. After wards the vet reassured me that I made the right decision. They asked me who her normal vet was, and said that they would contact them and let them know Merry passed. On my way out the receptionist even asked if I remembered to take Merry's collar (I had mention I wanted to keep it). They were so compassionate and understanding in a horrible situation. I really cannot sing enough praise about how amazing they were in a horrible situation.
Took my puppy in this evening for an allergic reaction and couldn't have had a better experience. Everyone was nice and as stated in some of the other reviews they DID NOT try and push additional treatment or wellness plans on me. If you pet is having issues feel comfortable taking them in. It's going to cost a minimum of $150 but your pet is worth it...
