My daughter has a bulldog that her vet said just apply a gel to the bleeding area...after not working I suggested her take to my vet who immediately diagnosed the problem and sent her to a specialist who was specialized in the delicate surgery that was needed. She got the help and diagnosis that saved her dog. All of our extended family goes to Dr Volk and Cooper and we have been going for years and have been very happy with the treatments. Even during those sad times when it was time to say goodbye to our furry loved ones.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!--I would not recommend going back to this place. The doctor did absolutely nothing to help us. Rather he suggested that we take the kitten back to where we got her. We've had this kitten for 1 week and she now has an ear mite problem. Ok. That's not a valid reason to take her back. The doctor then fiddles around with a Q-Tip in the kittens ear and shows us the problem. After that, he just sends us on our way out the door. It was a complete waste of time. The doctor did nothing but complain about our kitten having problems when the only problem is the ear mites. He didn't even finish the job. Just left the kitten with the ear mites in her ear and did not treat it. WHY WILL I TAKE MY CAT TO THE DOCTORS IF HE IS NOT GOING TO TREAT THE PROBLEM??? Lousy experience!

MY EXPERIENCE WITH RANCHO MESA ANIMAL HOSPITAL AND THEIR VETS AND STAFF HAS BEEN ALWAYS EXCELLENT. THE LOCALE IS CLEAN, DOES NOT SMELL LIKE DOG URINE LIKE SOME PLACES DO, THEY ARE NICE AND ACCOMODATING. MY TWO DOGS WALK IN LIKE THEY ARE AT THEIR HOME, NEVER WHIMPERING OR REFUSING TO GO IN AS THEY HAVE DONE IN THE PAST AT OTHER FACILITIES. THE CARE IS EXCELLENT AND DR. VOIGHT WILL TELL YOU " THAT IS COSMETIC, THERE ARE RISKS IN SURGERY , IT'S NOT BOTHERING THE DOG,SO BETTER SAVE YOUR MONEY" WHEN IT CALLS FOR A COSMETIC PROCEDURE. FEES ARE REASONABLE AND FAIR. I HAVE REFERRED MANY, MANY OF MY FRIENDS AND ACQUAINTANCES AND THEY ARE ALL EQUALLY SATISFIED. THE HOSPITAL IS OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK WHICH IS A CONVENIENCE AND A BLESSING. 5 STARS!

I was devastated when another vet in the area could not find what was wrong with my beautiful 7 yr old labrador. After spending more than $1000,00 on tests, my dog only became worse. One morning he couldn't move and I knew it was time. I did not ever want to go back into that vets office so I called Rancho Mesa after some friends at dog park recommended them. Not only was the cost 1/2 of what my vet wanted to charge, the doctor was the most compassionate, caring, loving woman ever. She sat with us as we watched him take his last breath which was peaceful and easy.She encouraged us to stay as long as we wanted for our goodbyes. I recommend them highly for their compassion, knowledge and heart

I have taken four of my cats to this hospital many times but I am sad to say in the greatest time of need the quality of care at this hospital failed us. Let me start out to say that the vet techs are great, friendly and understanding. Dr Volk and Cooper are very knowledgeable but if you get Dr. McCroskey to see your pet, your are putting your family in danger. If you need a quick fix for a pet and the issue isn't serious like a spade/neuter or teeth cleaning then go for it- price is right. But if you are truly worried about your pets condition, don't be cheap and go somewhere else. Twice I have taken my older cat (15 years old) to the vet office for alarming issues and both times it turn out to be a failure. The first time my cat stopped eating which is very serious, I took my cat in and we got x-rays and a blood panel and no answer. Dr. McCroskey prescribed a medication to increase my cats appetite- later that night he had a reaction to the medication because he had hard stool and was blocked up and the medication gave him bad gas. We took him to an after hours emergency vet and in 15 min the vet was able to tell me what was wrong with my cat. Turns out he had an ulcer on his tongue and as soon as it healed he was fine. The second incident was the tragic one. My cat started scratching his ear and I could tell he was irritated with it. I took him to the vet and Dr. McCroskey gave him an antihistamine shot and said it should take care of it- she said she was 100% confident that it was an allergic reaction. A month later the itching spread lower down to my cats head so I took him in again and Dr. McCroskey once again prescribed another shot, she said sometimes it takes multiple shots but she was sure it was an allergy. 2 weeks later, it keeps spreading and I take him in again. Now Dr. McCroskey wants to give him antihistamine pills to spread the treatment out and is still confident its an allergy and will clear up. After the pills don't work my husband and I decide to get a biopsy done and it turns out my poor baby has a very aggressive skin cancer with only weeks to live. When the biopsy results came in I had a very emotionless Dr. McCroskey call me and tell me my best friend was dying. A good vet would have recommended an older cat get a biopsy right away and take no chances and wouldn't let their ego get in the way of my cat's life. I love my cats like family and I will never take them to Rancho Mesa again!
