Dr. Burke (canine oncology specialist) has done a wonderful job with my older Shepherd mix. He gave me full explanation of my options including, because he is an older dog, the option of not treating. He had and provided me all the information I needed to make a careful informed decision. I choose a middle-path (directed radiation) and have been very pleased with the results. The cost was reasonable for the services provided; very reasonable actually. THIS IS A SPECIALTY HOSPITAL, it is affiliated with UC Davis, and I found it a wonderful place to take a specialized case at the advice of my primary veterinarian.

Discussing the treatment of a friends animal at VSH reminded me of my own bad experience there. My problems with them haven't been addressed. They were arrogant and condescending to both myself and my vet (who sent me there). They did many unnessessary tests,not what my vet had sent me there for. They didn't do a less costly X-ray which would have prevented the dog a lot of suffering, and then sent the dog home misdiagnosed. There are better animal hospitals in town that are less concerned with the money and more concerned with the welfare of the animal.

Over the last 6 months we've had a very close relationship w/Dr. Brenda Phillips, Holly, Kristin, and Adin. All have been incredible. Our little Abby had cancer. The team was fantastic w/her. We never doubted for a second that she was well cared for when we'd have to leave her for her treatments. The team treated her like family. When she passed last month, everyone called us to make sure we were okay and to offer their support. We highly recommend VSH for their expertise and for being great people. Abby's Family

Cyrus had kidney failure. I live in the San Fernando Valley and was told this was the only place in Southern California that did dialysis for animals. They all treated Cyrus and me with the greatest care and respect. They was told I was coming from the hospital were I live in the San Fernando Valley and when I got there they watched over him all night tell he was transferred over to the other side the next morning. Where he was then in the hands of Dr. Sherri Ross. I almost lost him during that week. She did emergency surgery on him. She save my Cyrus that day. But as weeks went by and months he developed cancers of the cells. They told me Cyrus would begin to suffer. So on Aug 6th 2013 I but him down. And every day I hurt and cry for what I done. But I could not let him suffer. And I will always be in dept to UCDAVIS - the Hospital and - Trupanion Insurance. Because of all the animal insurance I have only heard of Trupanion that does Dialysis. It is very expensive. $1000.00 a treatment. And the treatment is 3 times a week. And they paid 90% of my bills. I have the proof. So what ever the negative people are saying about the Hospital -Staff - & UCDAVIS I never saw any of it. And I was there 3 times a week from 9:00 to 5:00 around 3 to 4 months. But it's not cheaps. No hospital is. That is why you need insurance.

Been taking our dog Ty here for the past few years. Not always the best bringing your best friend to the vet, but the staff and doctor's definitely know how to take care of your furry loved one's. Thanks again for all you do and the healing hand! Ty and my family thank you!
