We just moved from Canada to the US and had excellent vet care in our home country. We were worried about finding a good vet here in Santa Rosa, but one meeting with Dr. Bloomberg and we know we've found the best. Not just the best here, but the best we've EVER had. He's kind, extremely knowledgeable and takes his time with each animal he sees, providing all the details you need and more to make good decisions about your pet's care. The rest of the staff are amazing, too. We're extremely happy and feel very fortunate to have found Santa Rosa Veterinary Hospital. Highly recommended.

Dr. Blumberg is the BEST! Having had a variety of animals over the last 30 years, have always found Dr. B to be thorough, caring, involved, passionate, knowledgeable, gentle, kind and reasonable. One or two staff members over the years have been in a bad mood on occasion, but overall the entire experience for both the animals and the owner(s) has been well worth the trip. Have recommended the good Dr. to others and they have had the same overall experiences. He knows what he's doing and has multiple devoted long time clients with both exotic and typical house pets.

I am sorry that the other reviewer had a negative experience, but having been involved with various rescue agencies for exotics, I can tell you that the care provided here is top notch. Yes, mistakes do happen, and yes, the exotic vet is busy (he's great and popular in the area), so explanations sometimes aren't immediately available, but you will get a call from him to explain any concerns/findings. As with all vets, payment is expected at the time of service, even if the personnel working in the office aren't able to explain the nature of the treatment the vet deemed necessary; you wouldn't expect the secretary at your doctor's to have much information, either. To get the best information, you should go into the exam room with your pet. He has always been forthcoming with any knowledge and is up front about tests that won't have immediate results. Dr. Blumberg is a member of Association of Avian Vets and is a contributor to Sally Blanchard's Companion Parrot Quarterly - both of which require knowledge and passion for proper bird health and welfare. He is not the cheapest AAV member, but he is the best in the North Bay. As far as clipping flight feathers from injured wings, this was probably done to help with healing. Using injured parts, like a running on a sprained ankle, needs to be prevented in order to heal.
